I'll double your money on those pro v1 balls if they are

I'm not sure how good this guy's supply is, or how often he gets them - but the balls vary pretty widely in quality. Some are like brand new, others are x-outs or have scuffs. But, I got two dozen last week, and picked out the better half for the club championship today and tomorrow. Not one is an X-out or scuffy. (Although by now, it's another story, that's

my fault.) I'll check into it, though.

I get free Pro v1's when I play in high school golf matches, so I get my "expensive" balls for free there. I won't be paying $45/per dozen until I am under a 5 handicap.

In my high school matches we each got 3 Top Flites... if you wanted anything else, you had to get your own...

I chose less than $10 b/c all the balls I get come from the crappy little field "range" where no one ever hits and yet the field is constantly refilled with pro v1 and v1xs.....I don't pay for them but I do end up hitting a lot of them back into the woods so they end up back at the "range"

No, it'd help you if you got balls to fit your swing and all of that. Just because they're 50 dollars (ahemnikeonesahem) doesn't mean you're gonna play better.

I look for "recycled" golf balls on the internet. The top quality ones look and feel the same as brand new ones from the store. At a buck a ball, it's hard to beat.

There is a 130-140 yard par 3 at a local course with a pond in between the green and tee box. It is about 2.5-3.5 feet deep and I go in once or twice a year. With about 3 hours work I usually get between 800-1000 balls. I'll never hit 'em all but I keep going because I get about 60 pro v1, and about 150-200 other pretty good balls (titleist, nike, etc.). The rest are just for hitting at geese and stuff.

Aaahhhh yes.....memories......Memories of Poo colored pond water and giant bullfrogs, mosquito bites on 99% of my body, and a ruined pair of shoes. But alas, I have $250 worth of balls that I paid nary a cent for!

I use the Precept Laddie X. Everywhere I read people talk about how great they are and they only cost me $20 for two dozen! You can't beat that.

I am now hitting the ball a lot more consistently than a year or so back and have started to use the Srixon ZUR-S and are a great ball and helping me improve further. If I want to use a cheaper ball I cannot go past the Precept Laddie Extreme. They are long and straight (Not quite as long at the Z-URS but straighter on a miss hit) and still feel soft around the green and are dirt cheap at the moment.

With a 25 index, I try not to spend more than $10-12 per dozen. Right now I'm rotating between Maxfli Red Max [$9.99/doz at Golf Galaxy], Precept Laddie Xtreme [$19.97/2 dozen at Target] and Srixon AD-333 [$29.99/3 dozen at www.rockbottomgolf.com] .

Maxfli Tour Fire's are on for $19.99 / dozen right now (CDN) so I picked up a box last week and I am impressed. I would not spend the regular $35/dozen because the NXT tour are better, but for $19.99 / dozen I do not know if these can be beat... They have a nice feel, are long, and are quite durable. I layed 16 holes with one on the weekend before I lost it and it barely had a nick on it after a lot of shots!
