Money, plain and simple.

Agreed, if I didn't have to work I could spend more time playing and practicing. Mind you if I didn't work may be I would do others things than concentrate on golf....Catch 22 I guess.

Driver Accuracy - Off the tee with the Driver I am only hitting the fairway 45% of the time. While I still usually have a playable drive and my length (290) helps a bit, those 2 or 3 holes where I am scrambling from the trees really hurts my score. 3-wood off the tee isn't much better.

Just one thing? That's hard. I think the underlying problem is time conflicts-- as a grad student with a family, it's hard to find a block of time during daylight hours to vanish to the course. Of course, playing a round per week is no more time than if I went to the gym for half an hour a day, but somehow it's "worse" to take the time in one chunk. Plus, I'd really rather play 2-3 times per week.

This leads to poor consistency, which manifests in the blow-up holes-- hard to break 50 (for 9 holes) when you've got a couple snowmen or worse every round and the rest of your holes average bogey on a good day...

Money is usually the biggest downside for me. Besides that, my driving accuracy is my biggest issue on the coarse seeing as I only find the fairway about 43% of the time.

But now I have to worry about this winter weather which is never fun...

Laying a consistent swing on the ball. I'm still learning so I try not to get too frustrated when I ruin a hole with a poor shot. When I get it right making par seems straight forward but I'll always have those few holes where the wheels come off and the snowman (or worse) rears his head.

I'm always amazed how the pro's can recover from bad shots and escape terrible lies to salvage their mistakes more often than not.
