I love my Scotty, but it is too upright for me. I don't have the money to send it to California, but i want it bent a little. At my local golf superstore, Golfers Warehouse (similar to Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy, owned by Roger Dunn Golf Shops) they will do it for only a couple dollars.

My first question is, should i risk it? Maybe i should take them an older putter to do first to see the quality.

Secondly, how exactly to they adjust lie angles? Do they bend the shaft or the neck? Do they heat it up first? Will it leave any (heat or otherwise) marks on the neck?

Have you ever had this done to your putter? How is the quality? Also has anyone from New England had this done at Golfers Warehouse? I've had grips replaced there and the guy seems pretty good but i'm still a little hesitant.

Thanks!

IMO, sending your putter off to the SC Custom Shop for lie/loft adjustemnts only is a HUGE waste of money. To change the lie angle of a putter (or any club for that matter), they'll use a vise-like holder to keep the club stationary and then use a bar to pulll on the hosel and bend the neck in one direction or the other. If the golf shop wants heat up he putter to bend it, they don't know what they are doing. As long as you aren't trying to make a huge change in lie angle (4*+), you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I'm not saying they are going to heat it, i just had no idea how it was done. And yeah, sending it off makes not monetary sense to for me.

They just clamp it down and bend it with a little bar (the bar's for leverage - the little clamp that they put over the hosel is usually lined with felt too). You'll be fine.

Scotty's bend easily. I have mine down at 68. The guy that bent mine told me he has seen one snap before. If it snaps, get yourself a new one off their shelves, they should be liable.

Just make sure they don't have a sign disclaiming liability for this sort of thing during lie adjustments. I've seen such signs at a local pro shops but the larger places are prolly different.

If you have no intention on selling it, get it done whichever way you see fit. And if you do plan on selling it, let the buyer know that you had the putter bent somewhere other than the studio. Then it's on them. But for now set it up the way you need it and roll the rock. Good luck

I don't have any intention to sell it, although I am hesitant to do this because i don't want to decrease the value of the putter. In the end though, i really don't care about the value of the putter, i care more about how it fits me and how it plays. Putting is my general weak spot, and i think this really will help me. I just am never quite comfortable when i putt. I'm great at reading greens, but i always seem to be just short, or just left or right due to a slight push or pull. This, in addition to some changes that i am making to my mechanics, should help me.

How do you bend a Squareback Scotty? The toes stick up in the air a little when I putt

They are all bent the same way, at the hosel.  I would recommend going to a local shop as they would have the equipment to do it.  It shouldn't cost much.

FYI, I had an Odyssey bent upright 5 degrees at ProGolf Discount last year. It was no problem.

I don't think they have a hosel. So they would need to bend the shaft. There is a tool they use for this http://www.golfsmith.com/product/30040094/golfsmith-putter-shaft-altering-tool
