I need a Hybrid in the 16 or 17 deg variety to fill a yardage gap. My question is to you guys out there that are hitting one of these and if you could just give a honest answer of what you think of the one you have in your bag, anything that might steer me in the right direction. I am not Brand Biased but I have a like for things TM and PING.

Thanks

I had an Adams A4 2 hybrid in that range. The thing was really hard to hit. How big is your gap between the 3W to 3H to the 4i?

I hit the 3wood about 240 and the 19deg 3 hybrid 210.

the taylormade Rescue TP 2H 17º probably good as you cas change it to a 16 or 18 depending on how far you hit it to match the gap

I had a good experience with Ping and Cobra hybrids and would add to your list for demo.

+1 for the TM TP.

3 Wood -- Burner 15º - REAX Superfast 50 - (re-shafting)
Hybrid -- Rescue TP w/ FCT 19º - Aldila VooDoo SVS8
Irons -- RAC MB TP 3-PW - DG S300
Wedges -- Vokey Spin Milled 52º, MP-T 10 Raw Black Satin 60ºPutter -- Studio Select Newport 2...

If by chance you were on the fence about the hybrid...why not a 5W?...I'd have to agree with Brugz and any other person who said the TM Rescue or Rescue TP...great solid and consistent clubs.

In my Titleist 2014 9.5" Staff bag:

You likely won't find a 16*, but most companies make a 17* and call it their 2 Hybrid. I would definitely also recommend the Taylor Made Rescue.

In my bag:

The reason I am not looking at a 5 wood is i think a hybrid will fill the yardage gap with more versatility.

I recently got the TM rescue '09. It is a great hybrid, very easy to hit straight. I also looked long and hard at the Titleist 909h, also very nice with a slightly smaller head than the TM. I have tried the Ping g10 hybrid but found it to be very light, too light for my liking.

I play the Ping g10 hybrids and love them. I added a 2h to fill my yardage gap as well. Now I play 3h - 220y., 2h - 240y., 3w - 265y., D - 280y. I played a 5w for a few rounds, and found as have others that it doesn't seem as versatile. Also, I'm not as long with it. I avg 230y. with the 5w. The 2h has also come to be very workable off the tees, it creates a nice draw or cut with little effort. The Adams and TM are both good clubs as well, I just prefer the Pings. Good luck with your equipment.

I am glad to know you like Ping G10 hybrid. I purchased 15* and 18*, expecting tomorrow, and will find out which club will be replaced in my bag.

Still swinging the PING Eye 2's WOW!!!!

Eye 2's were my very first set of irons...long time ago. Anyway I have recently found my way back to PING (and don't plan to leave again) as I have recently ordered a set of the new PING i15 irons. I am also planning to put one the the new i15 hybrids in my bag...17 deg with the stock shaft (which by the way is made by UST for PING). I have only hit one in the store but I really like the way they set up and the feel of the stock shaft is excellent...check it out and good luck with whatever you decide...

I just got an Adams A7 Hybrid. Amazing club. 17 degree loft, I hit it as far as I'd hit a 5W, more accurate and better out of bad lies. My carry distance is a little further if not the same. The only drawback is that it doesn't run out as much as a 5W would. That's a push for me. Most of the time at that distance, I'm trying to hit a green on a Par 5 or controll a shot off the tee, and I don't need the ball to roll much after landing anyway.

The guy who had an older Adams hybrid and complained about it being hard to hit - I don't see that at all. I think a 2 Hybrid is MUCH easier to hit than a 2 iron (of course) and a 5 wood - at least for me. Everyone's swing is different though.

A 3 hybrid at 19 or 20 degrees is a more standard choice. I have a 3 hybrid and LOVE it for longer par 3s. Great out of the rough too.

I love it. Perfect fit for the set...same shaft. Easy to launch.

Have an '09 TM Rescue 19 degree I have hit less than 20 times I am trying to unload due to the "lefts". Went out and bought the Adams Idea Pro Tour 18 and 20 degree. These clubs are much better for me and I can "work" them in bot directions. I do hit them a little lower than the TM though.

I just put the Adams Idea Pro Black 18* in my bag and absolutely love it. Sets up much more like an iron and doesn't have that "tinny" feel like the TM or new Titleist hybrids. It plays about 230 for me off the tee and I can work it left to right or right to left with no problem.
