Just what is the problem? This store Maple Hill Discount Golf has sold over 35 thousand items using EBay. And you're asking folks on this site if they are selling Counterfeit items. Why not ask some of their customers? If you click on the number of sales next to their id it brings up their feedback page listing recent comments from their customers. You can see their EBay id and using that you can ask them if they are satisfied with their purchases. It isn't that hard to do.

Unless someone on this site has dealt with them we won't have a clue about what their reputation is.

A few weeks back I bought a Callaway driver head from a seller. His listings were over 5 thousand. Turns out the head is a legitimate Callaway item but with no serial number. Callaway told me it shouldn't have been sold for use on a course because it was part of a fitting kit. Someone sold it to this guy and he put it up on EBay. I contacted him, told him what I found and he is offering to buy it back I will ship it tomorrow. It wasn't counterfeit but I can't put a normal shaft it it. Anyway, sellers with a large number of transactions usually value their ability to sell using EBay and will not take a chance on getting barred, Like this guy they will do what it takes to keep their reputation solid. Good Luck.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I view on line auctions sites as cesspools so if it were my money, I would spent it at Callaway Preowned to be one hundrd percent sure it is the real deal.

While the store has great feedback, it's a legitimate question if the buyer has any doubts. If the store is selling that many clubs, I doubt they're carefully examining every club that comes through.

I would be very surprised if there is such a thing as a counterfeit Callaway Squareway 5 wood.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I have bought thousands of dollars worth of items on ebay, hundreds of purchases, the only problems came from misunderstandings. Ebay is an excellent place to find specific items.

Funny coincidence. I was on eBay looking for FT-i fairway woods literally yesterday and saw a few, including that very one. There were two others that had the tell-tale signs of being counterfeits. Aside from being the most counterfeited brand on eBay, they were being sold with no photos by accounts with very little feedback (literally 4 to 7) with very low starting prices under the excuse that the seller "got it as a gift and just wants to sell it soon".

I notice the auction ended; it didn't go for a killer price. Did you bid?

No i didnt get it, he was a few others up so im not in a big rush. I know Pre-Owned Callaway has them, but they are $60 more expensive, and for a broke ass college student, 60 may as well be 600000 lol

I've got a couple buddies who deal with them on a regular basis they are legit. You never answered the question, what makes you think this is counterfeit?

Does this seem to have any sings of being a counterfeit? I know that buying clubs on eBay is a bad idea, but i am on a budget, and i need a 5 wood

usually if the seller has 2500+ feedback your pretty much ok..maybe message seller and request serial number..check it that way.

The seller has a few other clubs in the 5w and 3w version, all "Buy Now" for $119. In (supposedly) new condition, $119 does indeed beat anything callawaypreowned.com offers by $60.

I don't know how much good getting a serial number will do you. I've heard that sometimes counterfeiters get ahold of a couple valid serial numbers and stamp them on the clubs they make.

well normally all stock callaway clubs have plastic over the heads, why this company decided to take off the plastic is a little odd to me. It is listed as new, yet they are list price that they are selling it at is $180 cheaper than the what you would get from Callaway or any retail story that carries Callaway. Those two alone were my biggest concerns, any time u throw down $140 its good to be cautious, even if it is unnessicary. I apperciate everyones help btw, i am probably going to buy it from this seller, i think he was a few other listing up.

That was another thing i was worried about, if it was really new or not. But I think most the ppl on here are right, a large store like this likes to keep a good reputation, so if i do have a problem, Im sure it was be resolved

That's probably good reasoning. Just a couple negative feedbacks with complaints of having bought counterfeits could really hurt their sales, so they probably scrutinize each club as much as time permits. I check the feedback before buying, just to make sure the 1 out of 200 (or whatever ratio they're at) negative feedbacks is service related or something like that and not counterfeit related.

Yea, the only negitive feedback they had for the past six months was due to the seller not being able to supply after a bidder won. Im not to worried about it anymore, I will probably buy it within the week

    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
    • I work with a lot of golfers who want more shaft lean at impact, who currently have AoAs that range from +2° to -2°, and who love to see the handle lower and more "in front of their trail thigh" from face-on at P6. And a lot of these golfers try to solve the issue by working on the downswing. They do something to drag the handle forward. Or they just leave their right thigh farther back so the same handle location "looks" farther forward. Or they move the ball back in their stance. Or they push themselves down into the ground to get the handle lower and increase (decrease?) their AoA (to be more negative). The real fix is often to get wider in the backswing. To do LESS in the backswing. To hinge less, fold the trail arm less, abduct the trail arm less. I had a case of this over the weekend. Before, the player had 110° of trail elbow bend, "lifted" his trail humerus only a few degrees, etc. The club traveled quite a bit around him, and he tended to "pick" the ball from the fairways. In the "after" swings below (which are mild exaggerations — this golfer does not need to end up at < 70° of elbow bend. These were slower backswings with "hit it as hard as you normally would" intent downswings), you can see that he bent his elbow about 70° instead of 110° and lifted his right arm an extra ~15° or more. You can't see how much less this moved his hands across his chest (right arm abduction), but it was also decreased. His hands stayed more "in front of" his right shoulder rather than traveling "beside" them so much. The two swings look like this: The change at P6, without talking about the downswing one little bit (outside of him telling me that he tends to pick the ball), is remarkable: Without 110° of elbow bend to get out (which he gets to 80°, a loss of 30°), the golfer actually loses slightly less elbow bend (70 - 50 = 20), but delivers 30° less elbow bend, lowering the handle and letting the elbow get "in front of" the rib cage… because it never got "behind" or "beside" the rib cage. If you look at this video showing the before/afters of P6, you'll note the handle location (both vertically and horizontally) and the shoulders (the ball is in the same place in these frames). This golfer's path was largely unaffected (still pretty straight into the ball, < 3° path and often < 1.5°), but his AoA jumped to -5° ± 2°. I've always said, and in talking with other instructors they agree and feel similarly, that we spend a lot of time working on the backswing. This is another example of why.
    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
