I am one of the testers of Evolvr , and have so far experienced great results. I have no personal interests in Evolvr, what I'm writing here is all true.

I've so far submitted two videos (one being the example video) and my game has improved more than ever. My golfing up to Evolvr has been a lot about slicing and fat shots. After only two videos, Evolvr has helped me fix both. I haven't had the time to ingrain them fully yet, but the results came immediately.

I went to Spain last week to play golf for 6 days. On the first day, I shot 109 on a par 68 course, on the last day I shot 78, and a round of 80 some days earlier! Before this, I've broken 90 once. I did not break 80, seeing as it is a par 68 course, but it would've been around 82 on a par 72. Of course, my 109 was terrible, but the main reason was fat shots and slice/pull. A 100+ result is not uncommon for me. I also had two rounds at 89 and 90, where I hit some shots fat during the round.

I submitted a video to Evolvr the day before I left. Two days later I got the video back with a good analysis, giving me the next part to work on. The next day, I shot 80. On the last day, shooting 78 (with one triple bogey), I did not hit a single shot fat. Not from bunkers, not from fairways. I hit greens all the day, superb iron play, compared to before. Triple bogey was partly because of two bad lies, ball in a divot twice at the same hole, being index 1.
1 birdie, 9 pars, 7 bogeys, one triple bogey. Most bogeys was a result of poor short game and putting. My distance with the irons was spot on, but not very long, as I've got some work to do there, but I hit most of the greens. The analysis also helped my short game, I didn't duff a single chip.

Suffice to say, I will be using Evolvr this season, and my goal is single handicap and below. After the first couple of rounds, I did not expect to reach single. After the last, I was confident I could do it. The analyses has been spot on. I feel free to discuss with the Evolvr team any concerns or questions. I don't get suggestions on how to fix everything at once, only small details every time. It was incredible to watch how small changes can make a huge difference. On the second analysis, I got pointed out something I've never seen or anyone else commented on before. I can't wait for the snow to melt and the season to kick off.

Thank you evolvr! Looking forward to working with you in the future! I know most golfers don't take lessons, this is an excellent chance to get lessons from your chair, needing only a video camera. The money spent on camera and evolvr is insignificant, compared to the possibilities it yields. I've spent so much money on range balls, most of the sessions not getting me anywhere. On the first couple of days, I lost cheap balls worth $60 on the course, on the last I didn't lose a single one. $60 is two months subscription of evolvr!

Congratulations, Zeph. After a couple years of reading your posts, I know you're probably over the moon over that 78. Well done! I need to relearn how to break 100 at this point.

I got a PM about evolvr from iacas and I too will be hitting it up soon- maybe in a month or so.

What course were you playing in Spain?

I played at the Polaris World La Torre Golf Resort .

Played the La Torre course most, as it was 100 yards from the hotel. Played one round at Hacienda Riquelme, where I shot 97 under tough conditions. Rain and near gale wind strength. I hit some quality shots there, but some fat shots and a lot of stray tee shots, which the wind made 3 times worse, and I was in trouble. Was particulary happy with one par 5 where I found the water from the tee, then hit the next from 180 meters to just back of the green, up and down for par. Another par 5 I was 200 meters out, green higher than the ball. Flushed a 3 wood into the wind, slight draw and onto the green for a par.

I would've played the other course more, but it was some way to travel, and the rest of the group didn't like it as much. Mostly because of the weather I suspect. Best golf I've ever played on those rounds of 80 and 78, no doubt about that. One problem I faced was that I hadn't worked the swing plane into my swing. So, I had to decide which swing thought to have, keeping the head still and preventing fat shots, or getting a better swing plane, not slicing or pulling. I chose the first option, so my drives were not so good. I got my share of fairway bunker play. Which was good actually, because it forced me to focus on not hitting it fat. Most shots were pulled a bit, so I had some lengthy putts, but some was dead on the flag.

I can't wait to get my OTT sorted out, so I can start playing with Pro V1x, the ball I like best. I can't afford losing 10 4-layer balls a round, so I've been playing Pinnacle and Top-Flite. Don't like them on and around the green, especially when chipping.

Even hit a drive close to 300 yards, didn't have any measuring device. Down the wind and slightly downhill on the landing area, but I was happy enough. Hit a lot of drives 260-270 yards, knowing I got the clubhead throwaway limiting me.

congrats on the career round. i've had a resurgence as well of late. i too was struggling with swing plane issues. looks like a really nice course you played, although i must confess i've never heard of a par 68 course.

So glad to hear it - you are the one implementing the changes - nice job to this point! FYI - breaking 80 counts whether it was a par 68, 70 or 72...we weren't talking about an executive course (looks like slope was around 120) so give yourself (more) credit where credit is due!

Thats great to hear Zeph! Hearing things like this gives me confidence that I too can improve. The last I heard from you in your confessions post was that you hit 90% of your shots fat. To go from 90% to 0% is quite a drastic improvement. What was the trick that worked for you? I also struggle with hitting the ball fat, and I realize everyone is different, but I still would be interested in what worked for you.

I am interested because after reading yours and Daves posts for the last few months, I trust your judgement. I do not have access to a camera right now though. If I get one I will probably look into it.

Another thumbs up here for evolvr! Dave is a great instructor and I really like his communication style. Very positive and informative. I dedicated this week to working on what Dave told me on my online lesson and today I hit the ball probably the best I ever have. I was really struggling about a month ago with inconsistent contact and implementing a few basic pieces has helped a ton. I wish I had this knowledge when I was playing in college!

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
