I hit mine about 170...but that's really not important..if your hitting your 6 160 and doing it straight and consistent , that's a great shot! I'd rather lose 10 yards on a club and gain the consistency

It only matters that you know how far you can hit that 6 iron. If you know you can get a consistent yardage out of each club in you bag you're golden. And let your uncle know that unsolicited advice is against the rules. Then question his manhood for pulling out the hybrid for that 160 yd par 3.

It really doesn't matter how far you hit your clubs. As everyone has said, it's all about what club you take to get to the green quickly and efficiently.

For the record, I hit my 6 iron around 160.

I can hit my 6-iron "about" 160 yards - from a flat lie on a straight hole, no wind, good ball striking day, smooth swing, blah, blah, blah. I think it's important to know what we can hit our clubs "about." Uphill lie, downhill, side-hill, traps in the ffront, water in the back, hurting wind, helping wind ... and so on and so on ...

With our handicaps, it's good to know what we can hit the shot "about" in yardage and then calculate what it's going to take so that our next shot has mitigated any danger - albeit rewards - because of this shot. If I can hit my 6-iron 160 and I'm uphill lie to an uphill green with trouble front and right with a slight hurting left to right wind, (just saying here), I'm thinking 5-iron, because the uphill lie will add loft, the uphill green will decrease total distance, and I want to stay away from the trouble front and right.

In short, it's good to know "about" what we hit each club and adjust strategy from there based on conditions, course and (most important) how we're striking the ball today.

Just my three cents worth ... I'm sure the pros can hit the numbers exactly, that's why they're pros ... enjoy!!

145 for me. When I'm swinging very well and making consistent, solid contact I start reaching out to 150-155, but that's not the norm.

    • Day 328: night range session. Worked on wrist twist in the downswing. Focused on doing it as well as I could slowly. I hit a lot of pull hooks and some solid straight balls, so that’s good. Video feedback seemed good, but quality wasn’t great because it was bad lighting. Really pleased with how I focused on being slow and specific, using some of the tips from the last Spin Axis pod.
    • Day 44 (13 Jun 25) - Friday men’s shootout…played so-so.  A couple of lost ball penalties on the front for a pair of dbl bogies (the only of the day) kept the score up - however had some neat recovery shots especially on the back nine to save par on a couple and bogie on another.  All in all - a good day to make the most of course management…and minimize miscues.
    • Ok…ok. We’ve got some names creeping in there…Ready for some chaos….nice to see Spaun…Hovland a good kid….still waiting for Brooks to crash miserably.
    • The first bit of 6.3 says teeing area rules apply when: The player is starting play of the hole (see Rule 6.1), The player will play again from the teeing area under a Rule (see Rule 14.6), or The player’s ball is in play in the teeing area after a stroke or after the player has taken relief. So yes, if you take Unplayable Relief in the Teeing Area, you can then move it or tee it up.  Note that for Back on the Line penalty relief, for Unplayable or Penalty Area, the relief area may be any area of the course.  For free relief, you must usually end up in the same area of the course as your ball was previously, That means you can't take relief from a sprinkler head for a ball in the General Area and drop in the Teeing Area.
