Business As Usual Woods Enters Players Championship

'PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Tiger Woods has entered The Players Championship as he fills out a schedule that is not much different from previous years. The only change is that Woods is giving tournaments a chance to promote his appearance. This is the second straight time Woods has made an early commitment to an event. For years, the world's No. 1 player waited until the last day before signing up for most tournaments. Woods missed five months while caught in a sex scandal before tying for fourth at the Mastersin his return. He is scheduled to play next week in the Quail Hollow Championship, followed by The Players Championship on May 6-9.

I think he is taking to heart the more constructive criticism he's received about his attitude. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.

I'm excited for him to play anytime he tees it up, especially given how little of him I've seen this year. However, he hasn't won the Players' Championship since I was in high school (and I'm now well into a PhD program), and has had only one Top-10 there since.

So basically, things are somewhat back to normal for Tiger regarding his golf schedule. He might be a bit affected by the whole situation at Quail Hollow, being open to everyone, but after that I don't think it will be a big deal. The whole thing has been rolled out, he's said what he wants to say about the topic whenever someone asked. The media will lose interest and hopefully put the attention back to his game and his swing, which needs a fix. Dropping Hank Haney would be a good start.

I have to agree with you in may respects. I love to watch him play, and in some perverse way, want to see him break Nicklaus's record, for some reason I can't explain. But after watching his interview with Peter Kostis after his final round in The Masters, I am now of the opinion that hie really is a complete arsehole, with absolutely no respect for his fans or his fellow competitiors.The old scripted and predictable responses are preferable to the arrogant and condescending drivel he dished up. He is a turd. And to use ther voice of your dead father so that Nike can sell some more shoes, was in pretty poor taste, even though Earl was a complete dickhead as well - part of the problem, I fear.

I used to be on the "Phil's a Phoney" bandwagon, bit have seen the error of my ways. He makes people excited and gives them respect.

The other side of that is that Peter Kostis is a tool and basically said "so it was obvious you sucked and had no control over your golf swing, talk about that..." I have to wonder how you'd have reacted. Tiger was asked about himself and he gave answers about himself. Peter and Tiger have a history and I have to think it's only because CBS was trying to pile on that they sent Kostis to interview him. On Saturday they'd asked Bill Macatee to do it, after all.

I used to think Phil was a phony twit too (he probably is, but to some degree they all are). I've never heard Tiger say anything that was worth listening to, but I usually change the channel before when the postgame interviews begin - every sport included. Game is over? Change the channel.

It's just an opinion he and I have and in no way is really all that big of a deal. We have just put in perspective who Tiger really is. That's all!!

Shorty....I've got to agree with you on Phil also. I thought for a long time that he was a bit fake. I was wrong. He puts more time in with the fans and media than nearly all other players and that's not fake. I admire how he has handled the health issue's his wife is facing also. As a person with cancer I cannot tell you how difficult it is on loved ones and he has handled it great!!

DFB....I would agree with that. The media has really gone over the top with it all. Yes and some people have also. Like I said though...a lot of people are just voicing an opinion, and in print it come's off as something more. All's good.

I totally agree,people get so wound up over Tiger,..why the hell does he have to be nice,he can be who he wants to be....its a free world if you hadnt noticed...

I don't see many people getting that wound up about Tiger. People are free to like or dislike him that's all.
