So, What is your ideal day? Let's start with a few questions:

1) What would you score?
2) How far would you shoot?
3) What would the weather be like?
4) What kind of shots would you hit?

This would be mine:

I'd hit about a 85 or 83, regularily hitting 200+ yards on drives. I would be a warm day, but with an overcast. (I don't like playing in full sunlight). I would hit great rough shots with great accuracy.

Hopefully I'll make this happen soon.

Sunny 80 degrees with 5mph breeze. I'd dominate my playing competitors, Chad and Stu, by double digits.

So, What is your ideal day? Let's start with a few questions:

- 63 (or Jessica Alba - win win)

- same as always - scattered showers and gusty on the front nine - warming up as the round continues - every club in the bag - good course management - long irons off the tee a few times, a lot of 3/4 knockdowns into sucker pins Some people count sheep to fall asleep. I shoot under par at The Canal.

Well, ideally I'd like to shoot an 18 if I could, but realistically:

- Even par. Maybe not terribly realistic, but more so than an 18.
- Wouldn't be too concerned with how far, same as always like Sean said.
- An on and off drizzle would be nice. It softens the greens and keeps the course from getting backed up. Slightly overcast, too, and a light breeze would be nice.
- I would like to hit the shots that I visualize. If I want to play a 5 yard fade, then I'd like to see that. If I want to hit a low 20 yard hook that goes under a tree limb and rolls up to the green, that's the shot I'd like to see come off the club (I'm not sure why I'd have to do that on my ideal day though).

Jeez, guys, thought the question asked about your ideal day, and here you are shooting your realistic 81s and 86s in the rain.

Heck with that. I'm firing a 59 in 70-degree, sunny, dry weather. Bombing it 300 on command. And generally making the ball my bi-otch with an array of fades, draws, punch shots, lofted long irons and bump-and-runs. Of course, every putt is tracking like an ICBM.

Did I mention this was happening at Pebble Beach? With Kate Beckinsale toting the bag, providing yardages to the inch and whispering words of encouragement as I march toward U.S. Open history?

Cheers,
Sean

Since I am no more likely to see Kate Beckinsale in my bedroom as I am to see her carrying my golf bag, I assure you that my ideal day has her wearing significantly less than a caddie's outfit. (okay, maybe just the smock)

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I would shoot under par without making a boogie. If I shoot under par, weather or anything else would not matter too much.

I'd shoot the course record on the final day of the club championship in 75* light breeze conditions, shooting at pins like they darts on a saturday night...infront of a gallery of beautiful, heavenly bodied women following me through the day, getting aroused at my amazing control of a little white ball as it does aerobatics around doglegs, over traps and over water hazards. *Pinches himself*...yea, somethin like that hahahahaha

A 65 degree weekend in July where everything clicks and I dominate everybody en route to the Club Championship. Gross scores don't matter... so I'd like to shoot net scores of 65-65 = 130.

It can happen... I just need a LOT of practice before then.

Let's see... 68 degrees and sunny (for some reason, I putt better when the sun's out)... Seaside course, don't really care which or where... For some reason, on this particular day I have complete command over the golf ball, kind of like the priest in "Caddyshack," before he gets whacked by lightning... No lightning for me, though.

Final score: 66, because I like the symmetry.

Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course... the space between your ears.

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 40 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 4.0 factor My typical ball flight is: Straight however sometimes slight draw. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
