No matter how dark his life is right now, lesser known coaches such as Foley would be crazy not to take him I think. Maybe that's not their gig though, hard to say.

I'm not buying the story that Hank just up and left.

yea Im not buying the story that hank just decided to leave either. Im sure it was mutual and Tiger will have no problem finding a coach, are you kidding me, Tiger will come back and whoever is his swing coach will become extremely popular too.

i know it will be a stretch, but he should go back to butch. i dont think hank just up and left tiger like that. he had how many great years with butch....he needs somebody that knows him already, his life is already in a big enough transition, and adding another coach is adding another layer of transition. butch knows him and knows what his swing faults are.....tiger won the slam with butch as his coach...why not go back?

I really doubt Haney suddenly decided to drop Tiger, but anything is possible, I guess. Classy move by Tiger to let him keep his dignity if indeed Hank was fired.

Foley seems to be the logical choice. If he could get Tiger driving the ball anywhere near as well as Hunter Mahan the rest of the Tour is in dire straits.

Wow, surprising in some ways, not surprising in others. I doubt we'll ever know the whole story behind it, but much like other stuff from the past 6 months - do those details really and truly matter now?

Or are we just like the nosy old ladies that live down the street that are always up in everyone's business when we shouldnt be??

It's a tough call as to who he'll take hire now. Maybe he'll go without a coach for a while. For someone who has done so well making those adjustments halfway through a round, if he can get a few things working right (stuff that's been discussed in other threads, not gonna rehash it), maybe he'll be fine on his own.

Hank pretty much spelled it out on his website "I have informed Tiger Woods this evening that I will no longer be his coach. " I don't see how anyone can doubt this ...... life goes on and is probably the best move for both of them at this point

I'm thoroughly sick of Tiger Woods. Period. But, gees, I don't think we're crossing too many lines in wanting to know why his swing coach would choose to walk away.

Current setup:
Titleist 909D2 9.5°, Diamana Blue Stiff | Titleist 909F2 15.5°, Diamana Blue Stiff | Mizuno MP-57 3-P, Nippon NS Pro 1050GH Stiff | Titleist Vokey SM 54.11, 60.07 | Scotty Cameron ACVII / Napa California | Titleist Pro V1X

Hank pretty much spelled it out on his website "I have informed Tiger Woods this evening that I will no longer be his coach. " I don't see how anyone can doubt this ......

What is said and what actually happened are many times two different things.

Well if Hank and Tiger are really friends (6 years has to make you close) I could see 2 ways this makes sense. Hank feels his methods aren't working and wants to see Tiger have more success so he withdrew. Or Tiger wants to move to a new coach but not hurt Hank so he got him to let him go. What does Tiger stand to lose by Hank being the one that appears to end the couch/student relationship? Nothing that I can think of. However if Tiger up and fired Hank I could see it costing Hank a bit in the wallet with students doubting or some such, so this may be a way for Hank to lessen the business impact and Tiger can move on.

Part of being a good coach is realizing not everyone benefits from your methods, or when they have surpassed your ability to help them. I've heard lots of talk of Haney's ego (I know nothing more about him than what I've seen on Haney Project). Perhaps his experience with Barkley made him take a step back to reexamine that ego and be more realistic about his relationship with certain students?

Well, between personal problems, injuries and now probable upcoming swing changes, can't see Tiger winning at all this year.Phil will be number one in a few weeks.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

Now...if Tiger could figure out a way to blame Haney for all the "transgressions" he'd be all set.

In my Callaway stand bag:

3 Wood: Cleveland Launcher 15 degree Adilla Voodoo shaft
Irons 3-SW: Callaway X-14 Steelhead

Lob wedge: Cleveland 60 degree

That might just be the best thing for him. Just go home, work on what he thinks should be his swing, and come back and destroy Pebble Beach. But, I do like Foley....

It was probably more Tiger's choice than Hank, which would just be fuel to the fire for all of those who say Tiger is crazy controlling, but if that is the case kudos to Hank for taking the fall.

Maybe Tiger cheated on him too?!?!?

Wouldn't surprise me, hahaha.
