Range day: "Yeah, my elbow does hurt a bit. Maybe hitting five buckets will make it feel better?"

Course day: "Man, this is a long hole. I better swing out of my friggin' shoes on this drive!"

Not quite what you have in mind but as a newbie..

Addressing the Ball: "Ok, nice slow tempo here.. don't need to smash it."
Post Swing, Topping the Ball: "That was slow?"

Good thread idea.

For me... it's always the same:

"This hole is only 370. 3 Wood will leave you a 7 iron. Yeah, but Driver will leave me a 9 iron."

I always hit the driver... and almost never well.

I'm an idiot.

Me: "My leg feels fine, I'm going to go hit a small bucket."
---Later---
Them: "Small or large?"
Me: "Um... large."
---Later---
"Oh man, my leg hurts, one more..."
"Maybe just one more..."
"Ah, one more won't kill me..."
---Later---
"Damn, my leg really hurts."

Wake up the next day, repeat.

for me it's basically the abc's of golfing......

keep my head down and take a nice easy tempo swing.....

"yeah..i can hit this 4iron over that tree 10 feet in front of me..."

"I knew it."

Walks up to the ball after my drive on a par 5. Hit it about 280... looks over at my playing partner and say... "Man, I think I can make it to the flag with this next shot."

He says, "Nah... play it safe and leave yourself a simple chip shot."

I look back and say, "forget playing safe... Im gonna crush it."

SWING... CRACK!! Hello tree (tried to hit the ball 800 yards and sliced it bad)

Look over and say, "toss me another ball" as he just chuckles and throws me a ball.

I then, switch clubs and hit a beauty down the middle of the fairway.

Look at him and say, "HA... thanks alot".

Standing over a putt: "if I can just get the line right, the speed won't matter." - proceed to leave it way short..

Standing over ball

...and then things go bad.

This is my worst one. I don't know why I can't get myself to step off. I always try to adjust midswing and that never works.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

'its in the hole..its in the hole...'....'nope, in the rough past the green'

'if i can only just punch it out to the 100 i can knock it within 15 feet to save bogey/par...'

...and then things go bad.

Last round I actually stepped away from a 10 foot putt mid-backswing because it didn't feel right. I was really proud of myself, and ended up making the putt after re-grouping.

How bout - I'll be able to find that one! (after it veers off into the woods)

"Don't ... ."

It's a magnet for me. I'll tell myself, don't let it leak, set up for a slight draw. And pow, there it goes right. But the opposite seems true, too. Water on the left, so I tell myself, don't let it draw. And pow, my ball is looking like a dead duck.

In my bag:

One for slicing
One for hooking
One for knocking it in the cup

Standing over ball

Man thats the story of my life right there. must happen 2ta3 times a round

    • Day 252: worked on chipping for a while with my chipping net. Worked on low, medium, and high shots. Productive session.
    • Day 180 - 2025-03-29 Not a long time today, but I got my five minutes in jumping and doing some work on the downswing.
    • I’ll just stick to the basics for now - got enough to work on… this is my home practice range. The little clearing in about the center of the photo is roughly 200 yards.

    • Played Musgrove Mill today. 72.3/155. +9 for 15 official holes as 2 holes are closed, and the par 5 16th plays as a converted par 3. We played the first three holes over to finish 18, and parred 1 and2 amped bogeyed 3. The good: hit every fairway. 1 less than normal for the converted par 3, but the second time I have done that this year. My sand wedge approach on 10 after a monster drive hit the pin in the back left corner hit he pin and spun away to 9’, and I missed the putt.   The great: hit 8 GIR and 7 were inside 10’. Needs work: Missed every birdie putt. No lip-outs. Just struggled on fast greens. Three-putted the par-5 9th with the pin on the back tier and jut missed hitting my approach to the proper level and it spun all the way to the front of the green.
