i could hit my driver great (300) very consistent.......however my irons suck i cant even hit a pitching wedge! then all of a sudded just out of no where i start killin my irons and i can also spin a ball like a wizard! bad news is everytime this happens i lose my driver! it has to be the difference in swingplane. I dont know how to use a flater swing on my driver while keeping my irons steep.............

I'll flat out guarantee you can't hit your driver 300, much less do it consistently....

Maybe it's the humidity. I mean Fulton County Stadium wasn't called "the launching pad" for nothing.

well an iron is alot smaller of a head than a driver. Also, with a driver you are using a sweeping motion (which is what beginners master first usually). This might be why you hit your driver alot better than irons, you have the sweeping swing down but not the iron swing with your hips and hitting down. You also have to get the accurate hit to be good with irons.

how do you know? ever seen the man swing? if you've got the right body type it doesn't take a pro golfer to consistently hit a ball 300 yards. now, to hit it accurately with consistency is another matter entirely.

op... check your distance to the ball and make sure you're following through the ball. but most importantly, make sure you're swinging on plane!

can we take the discussion about distance to the driving distance thread.

I think this is your problem, your using the same swing for your driver as you are for your driver.
Your hitting down on your irons (which is giving you spin) but it's messing up your drives.

You need to sweep a driver not dig down.

I think you guys would be suprised... Wish I could film it for u. I hit a par 4 in one twice now, honestly I have no reason to lie or even talk about my driving distance. My question was about swing plane.

Trust us, everyone thinks they drive it 300 when they start. I did too. Sometimes, we even drive par 4s. If you can't hit an iron and a driver at the same time, though, you can't drive it 300 regularly, no way, no how. Get a video, if you have to use the cell phone, or a friend's phone, whatever, just do it.

I have a iron video on here I was struggling at the time though... I'll try to get a driver swing on here.. I carry it about 285 I would say but It always ends up over 300. I measure by yardage markers and my golflogix. U have to understand I'm not a 60 year old man I'm quite flexible and a athlete to boot. Sounds like penis envy... Just sayin

I'm just going to say this......There are plenty of guys out there that have the strength and athletic ability to hit the ball 300 yards, although not consistently. I just played in a scramble this past weekend and saw 3 or 4 guys who can't break 100, but can hit the ball a friggin mile every 5th or 6th swing.

So, while I agree that he probably can't hit is 300 "consistently," I can't agree with a patent belief that he can't hit it 300 yards at times.

When I started I was like that every 4th or 5th shot would be great. About 2 years i was about 50% now i've been at 70% for almost a year. I guess consistency is relative to how consistent ur other clubs are but almost 3 out of 4 ain't bad... Now I ain't sayin 3 out of 4 fairways I'm just sayin it may go past a dogleg into the woods... Or it may be a little in the rough to either side but still a great shot for me anyway. I'm a much better driver then alot of really good golders I play with. By the way I'm not overly strong

Just so you know, the number one way for people to not take you seriously is to say you drive the ball 300 yards. (Number 2 way is ball grammar/spelling/lack of capitals IMO.) But, to your problem, if you are spinning your clubs more this could mean you are also producing more side-spin on your driver, which makes all problems with the short clubs even bigger. That's likely not really it, but if you really want an answer you need to upload a video or at least say where you are missing your driver. Slice, hook, push, pull, poor contact, it could be a number of things.

They are junk, super high spin, the stock shafts are weak. They are made for people with bad swings. The tour issue TM clubs are totally different. Callaway, Ping, and several other brands, however, release their tour clubs to the public.

    • That’s totally fair. I have my chipping issues which make my putter more playable in that situation. Really just confirming that while not optimal there comes a point where if you need to use a putter (for whatever reason) then the optimal mechanics breaks down. I know I’m a sample of one. 😂
    • Day 329 - 2025-08-26 Hit 24 balls before lessons and JEP Summer Session. With the MP-33. 🙂 Put an undersized grip on my VR Pro accidentally.
    • Well, that's not really a putt at that point. You could easily choose to putt that up the slope with a hybrid or something.
    • Day 15 (August 26).  I missed practice yesterday, but otherwise had a 14-day streak going into it.  Somehow, some of my posts for this appear in my profile but I can't seem to see them (I hope I didn't break any rules that would cause them to be removed).  I am hoping I'll be able to keep doing some practice while I'm out to regain the red text.  Context:  am on vacation, this week with friends.  What was today's actual practice? Today, a friend and I decided to go to TopGolf;  it was kind of like being at the range with someone else's clubs.  And that's ultimately how I was able to use it for practice:  I don't practice choosing a target, lining up to it, and then hitting often enough;  that's what this place seems to be about.  In any case, we were there for 90 minutes, I was hitting for maybe 35-40 minutes of that time, and I did pick a target each time.
    • Day 2 - (26 Aug 25) - Church men’s golf nine hole Captains choice.  Had grandson as part of our group - was a blast watching him drill the putts.  Love these no pressure sessions - great for going outside the norm on club selection.
