had a lol moment, not a "funny" lol moment, a "you have to be kidding me" lol moment...

playing yesterday, hit my drive into a row of trees that spearate two fairways going in opposite directions. start walking to where my ball is, and see a lady coming the other way, from the adjoining fairway. she gets to the area where i think my ball is, and hits a ball. she doesnt look to check what ball it is. i'm thinking to myself, "i hope that wasnt my ball".

i reach the same spot, and see a ball. i check it, its a Noodle, its not my ball. so i turn and ask the lady who is now about 100 yards behind me, and the ball she hit is another 50 yards past that, what kind of ball she is playing. she says "Noodle". i tell her i think she hit my ball and that there is a Noodle right where i am standing.

her hitting my ball is not that big of a deal. its something that we all have to get used to because it will never get any better. here is the facepalm moment:

she starts walking back to me without getting my ball . im just standing there, like, you have got to be kidding me!

she sees i'm not going anywhere, so she asks "do you want me to get your ball for you?" she actually thought i was going to go chase down my ball that she hit because of her own carelessness. i had to laugh...

I've had almost that same thing happen. The guy coming the other way hits my ball by mistake and he crushes it and lands it on his green. I notice he hit my ball and told him that. He looked at me and said "Well, I'm not giving up that shot, you can have my ball!" He then just walked away yelling to his partners about the shot he just hit. At leasr I was hitting Pinnacles and he left me a ProV1.

^ That guy should switch to Pinnacles - he'll save money and hit more greens.

I've posted this before, but I had a guy once play my ball... open fairway, no one else around.

I hit my drive, and it goes maybe 220, into the left rough (this was my snap hook phase). Anyhow, I see him coming up behind me, so I tell him to go ahead of me (I like to take my time, and get the correct yardages, clean my clubs after each shot, etc.) Anyhow, he steps up, and smashes his drive... dead left, off the side of a house, into some bushes. He drives up... past his ball... up to mine, 100 yards ahead of his!

This moron actually plays my damn ball. He proceeds to duff it, then top it into the fairway bunker, then blast out, then run a few up to the green. I walked up to his duffed ball, and it was a cheap Tommy Armour ball. I am sitting here thinking this was a big mistake, he's taking forever just to advance his ball. To make matters worse, he joined the hacker in front of him, and they both played that bad...

that is unbelievable nerve... if the balls were switched, and you were playing the ProV that he hit, and he wanted to leave you a Pinnacle, what would you have done?

Was on a par 5, its a slight down hill tee shot, the fairway is a bit hilly, and when you start walking towards your ball you can't see over the rolling hills. I blasted my tee shot over the fairway bunker on the left, it was on the inside of the fairway bunker, about 10 yards from the left rough. It has to be in the fair, nothing around for 30 yards. So run into my ball, i tend to just walk the path it took, so i walk straight 10 yards off the left rough in the fairway. I check the bunker just incase because i knew that it was in my range. Nothing there, nothing before it, i clear the hill were it flattens out a bit, nothing. I see there were people on the front nine, hole 7 who were working there way up to the green. That sucker came over into my fairway and either stole or hit my ball. I check around the only other ball i found was 10 yards into the rough, a scuffed up top-flight. I was playing a new nike-one.

I was on a Par 4 today walking up to my green and hit my second shot to about 5 feet of the pin... Im all proud of my hole so far and right before I get there the sprinklers go off and I have to wait 10 minutes before I can finish my hole.

In the meantime the green is getting soaked and changed the way I read the put.

2 Putt for par, not bad I looked at the bright side, @ least I wasnt on the green putting when they went on

Yesterday a foursome of really bad old ladies who didn't understand the 90-degree rule were in front of us all 18 holes and never offered to let me and my buddy play through. So he and I, an older twosome of guys, and a single behind them were all stacked up at the tee-box waiting on these ladies each hole (they had to have averaged 4.5 putts) and it was getting tiring so we basically drove as soon as they were out of range.

Well I hit a beautiful shot up and over a hill where the ladies had just dropped out of site. It was a shot that, as soon as I hit it, made just about everyone wince as if I'd sliced it 60 yards. Well of course I felt bad but I usually don't hit that far (or that straight). As soon as we get up there after my buddy drove the lady had the nerve, after I apologized, to tell me that "she was tired of us driving into them" when that was the first time. As she said that a ball rolled past me on my right (from the group behind us) and then I decided to tell her how I felt and that me and four other guys were tired of her not following the 4 hour and 15 minute pace courtesy, tearing up the fairway with their carts (they ran over one of the fairway markers too *facepalm*), and putting 5 times just so they could use their new pink ballmarkers. She just rode away and after we finished up her husband was picking them up and shooting some daggers my way... Wish he would have been interested enough in hearing my side of the story.

Oh wait lol I forgot the reason I was posting this -- she took my ball that B****. Well.. Could have slipped it in there to make it more climactic but yeah she took my damn ball and had the nerve to complain to me about hitting it towards them... I didn't realize it until she pulled off. I asked them about it when my buddy drove into her (he did it purposefully) two holes later and she didn't answer...

The lost ball was worth the laugh.

Sometimes you just have to skip a hole and go ahead - rude but effective.

I wanted to play all 18 but it really did cross my mind. I also considered just safely playing through them. But considering she took my ball on an accidental drive I can imagine an intentional shot onto the green would have warranted the same thing.

She shouldn't have taken your ball, and they for sure should have let you through. Nonetheless, your buddy shouldn't have intentionally driven into them. That's never OK in my book.

I don't see how anybody who isn't a complete idiot manages to hit someone else's ball. These days there's so much crap written on golf balls that it's pretty easy to see what type of ball it is in most situations, and even if you can't, the rules let you lift it up to check anyway. Even if it's the same brand as yours you should have a mark on your ball. It's usually morons (and cheats) that just hit whatever ball they find in the general area hoping it's theirs and you can bet they aren't going to tell their buddies that the ball they just stuck on the green wasn't actually the one they hit off the tee when they find out.

Completely agree - Going more general: Anytime you let your anger control you on the course you look pretty silly. Golf is when you relax =)

Good question. Sometimes you've got to consider what's worth getting into an altercation about and what's not. That guy was absolutely oblivious and wouldn't understand why I was pissed even if I drew him a diagram.
