Classic iacas question. I keep mine up, but only because it helps me get my shoulder underneath it, as my shoudlers are large, and force my head back if I don't. It's a common misconception that the chin must be up to swing I believe. The chin can do what it wants to do, what's important is that the spine is fairly straight, right?

Evil question, i don't pay atention. I would guess if you have your chin up at address it will end up down at impact. Golf seems to be a game of opposite logical thinking, at least for most of us. So i would guess chin down, not pressed againts the chest, but so its like you are looking at it through the center of your eyes not your eyes struggling to look down at your toes if your head is upright.

up, because it makes me feel like I have better posture, which makes me more comfortable. I honestly don't think it'll matter that much, but I'm interested to see where this thread goes.

I voted chin down. I had one instructor tell me to keep my chin up and I couldn't hit anything. The pro I currently go to has never said anything about my chin. Just to keep my inclination to the ground constant. Honestly, how can you hit the ball if you are not looking at it? Looking down your nose is crap IMO. Next time, go to the batting cages, and try to hit balls with your chin up.

Don't pay much attention to my chin, I keep it in whatever position that allows my eyes to look directly at the ball without straining the eyes.

So I voted "down", as I'm definitely not trying to keep it up. If I were to rotate the shoulders too flat, it could probably be an issue, but why would I want to do that?

Down. Mostly because it makes it difficult to turn my shoulders on a flat plane---I'd hit my chin and move my head back. Chin down makes my shoulders turn steeper.

Boo! Hiss!

I'm chin down, because otherwise I'd be looking two fairways over from my vantage point, which is somewhat higher than normal.

Chin donw because it locks my head in place better and makes my shoulders turn ever so less flat.

Neither. To me, chin up implies head tilted back. I guess, since it's definitely not "down", I'll vote for "up".

WOW.. I experimented this last week! I chined up to straighten my upper back. Doing chin-up gave me feel of spine all the way to neck and head. Result of doing that, I straightened my upper back.

Well....
On the videos of my swing that I'd uploaded 2 weeks ago, my shoulder turn got flatten about 10 degree, but not my (club) swing path was.
Now I'm back to chin "down" to get my shoulder turn more upright as my (club) swing plane.
So..I voted for Chin 'Down'.

FWIW, the answer is "down" because:

a) your shoulders will still have plenty of room to turn under your chin if you turn them properly
b) you can look at the ball out of the center of your eyes - not the bottom edge of your eyes like the "chin up" people.

But think about how often you hear the phrase "chin up." It's often quickly followed by "so your shoulders have room to turn under them". Those instructors aren't letting you look at the ball out of your central vision (the middle of your eyes) and those instructors want a really, really flat shoulder turn - one that doesn't have your shoulders turn in a circle.

FWIW, the answer is "down" because:

I'll have to think about this next time at the range (not the course!) - the way my glasses sit on my face, "down" would allow me look though the centre of the lens.

yeah thats something to get use to, wearing glasses while playing golf. Its a bit tough when if your head moves such that now the golfball is outside the lense area.
