I'd say the next step in "breaking through" will be to slow down your swing slightly!

When I hit my driver pure Im almost sure to score birdie, par or even a fair chance at Eagle(par5) My best rounds have all involved having the longest driving avg. in 14 holes. Im most accurate with a lob from the fairway so anytime I can get within 120 of the green I seem to play great. Even better in the last 3 rounds Ive driven green or greenside on 4 par 4's. Birdie Birdie Birdie Par.///Just not in the same round! Hit a par 5 of 489 from 150 out and had a shot at 10ft putt for eagle. That SS is a weapon for me. I think the irons shafts should be tried at xstiff just to see.

I don't follow the logic there.

Yea, don't act like you can score on here, someone will come in and kick you in the nuts...

Huh? How are you a 19 handicap with all those birdies and eagles?

I used to believe I was on the verge of a breakthrough all the time, playing better than my handicap indicated. After staying like that for some time though, I realized I was in fact not better than my handicap. I have made some larger steps down with 3-5 handicap points within days or a couple of weeks, but other than that, it is a gradual improvement.

I can hit a putt like Tiger woods, hit a wedge just as close, but I can't do it as often. I can hit the driver 250 and an approach from 150 to 5 feet, but not consistently. That is why I'm a 15 handicap, because I can't hit my best shots most of the time.

I can roll 5 strikes in a row at a bowling alley, but my average is still only 165.

My point is that you can't judge your game and level by the good shots, but by the bad ones, or should I say by the amount and severity of them. You are never as good as your best shots, if you were, you'd be playing with Steve Stricker at 26 under par.
