Check your facts. She was a model prior to becoming a nanny for Jesper Parnevik.

She was as much a model as your waitress is an actress...

If she had any kind of money-making career as a model, she would not have given it up to become a nanny. Sorry, that dog is not gonna hunt.

I don't need to check my reality...I'm quite sure about it. Elin Woods may not be modelling at present, but I don't believe you can say she totally abandoned that career either. The fact is, she appeared in several magazine spreads prior to going to work for Parnevik...hardly what I'd call a part time career. As for your suggestion that her modelling career wasn't all that lucrative prior to going to work for Parnevik, yecause ou 're speculating. You also don't know the reason she left modelling, which for all we know had nothing to do with the pay. In fact, I read that she went to work for Parnevik because she knew his family and wanted to come to America. Moreover, there are a number of 30+ year old mommies who have resumed successful modelling careers after having children. Heidi Klum and Christie Brinkley immediately come to mind.

My original point here was that a divorce court will consider the wife's original career and how long she was out of it before deciding whether to award alimony, and it's unlikely in my opinion that she'll get it here.

You're assuming she quit modelling to become a nanny because of the money. That's not what I've read motivated her career change. Money doesn't motivate everyone's career parth.

IIRC, she commented that the "modeling" was done because a friend that was a photographer and he begged her to do it.

I think that's right. She was a reluctant bikini model. She's from a wealthy Swedish family, probably didn't want to get messed up with the sleazy side of the business. You know, strippers, porn, lechy athletes and b-grade celebs... oh.

I doubt she's haggling over lost earnings. She's getting hundreds of millions of dollars.
Since it so much fun speculating, I'll add that I give the painkiller aspect some credence here, and I'm speaking from some experience. Following a spinal cord injury last fall with back surgery in December (and another in two weeks) I've been unfortunately relying on Percocets to get through the day-to-day pain....

Really interesting stuff. Thanks.

You can keep living in your little reality if you wish. Being on a few magazines does not make a "full time career" in modeling - it really just meant she had a few shoots. And check out her bios and you'll see that she was working in a supermarket and in a clothing store to support herself while studying for her interest in becoming a child psychologist. No matter how you look at it, this isn't a "career in modeling". You're right that I'm speculating why she became a nanny, but I think objectively looking at the change it would be hard to believe that she gave up a significant and full time modeling career for life on the road as a nanny for a pro golfer. Could have happened, yes, but it just would be really doubtful. So I think my speculation is easier to buy here than yours. And yes there have been some true models like Klum and Brinkley that were able to keep up their career, but they were already at the pinnacle of modeling and had a name that would open doors anywhere.

I agree that a divorce court will certainly look at her past career and use that as part of its assessment in assigning a settlement. In Elin's case I doubt the court will find much of a lucrative career option for her. Regardless, I doubt whether that will really have any impact on the settlement - the community property implications will so swamp any of her potential earnings that she can get absolutely zero attributable for her career future and she won't notice it one bit.

He could be subject to drug testing related to the custody of his kids and therefore is cold turkey on all the drugs which is causing him some problems physically and mentally.

True. He looks like he's put on quite a bit of weight

Yeah, let's just make things up now. That always goes well.

I very much doubt Tiger has used ANY form of HGH or performance enhancing drugs. Hank Haney was asked about that and he backed up this up. Haney wouldn't have any reason to lie since he left Tiger, not to mention he is a straight-up kind of guy.

Thats the funniest thing ive heard in a month! hahahahahahahahaa

I forgot...people always tell the truth about using roids. Everyone knows we can trust tigers word...just ask his wife. Haney was prob. covering his own rear. If he cant be trusted to keep secrets for eldrick, other tour players would prob. would not trust him.

Umm...the guy's entire world came crashing down in a matter of days, he ruined his marriage, betrayed his wife and children, lost millions in sponsorship dollars, and all this happens under the extreme microscope of the mass media...do you guys really need to look for conspiracy theories as to why he can't focus on the golf course?

When it comes to Tiger, you guys kill me! I think you all really need to wake up. It's not him trying to save $$$ by tanking, it's not the drugs he's getting from the pysch ward, it's not that he's finally off roids etc etc...

He had the world in the palm of his hand, and it came crashing down around him. Golf is hardly a priority for him at the moment, can you really blame him for that? Do you really need to look this hard for excuses as to why he's having trouble contending against the world's best golfers on the world's hardest courses, surrounded by judgemental eyes?

Amen to that statement! Unfortunately if the people closest to Tiger can't trust him neither can any of the rest of us. I believe you're correct about Haney. If Tiger was using PED and Haney knew, He would probably just resign without comment (although I am not saying that is why he resigned). But I doubt he would keep Tiger's secrets to enhance his future employment with other PGA members, but just because he is a straight up guy and probably doesn't see any good coming out of such a revelation. Why kick a guy when he's down?

    • Its simple, YOU are responsible for reporting YOUR score correctly, at every level of golf.  Do you imagine a top pro would really trust anyone else with his score? Without getting too far from the original post, the Rules have been revised every 4 years for decades.  They're continually evaluated, and most changes are in response to changes within the game.  BTW, if wind blows your ball off the green before you've lifted and replaced it, you play from wherever it ends up.  The TV call ins weren't a rule of golf issue, they were a PGA Tour issue, all in an effort to get the call right.
    • Someone asked what I propose. I think if the bunker is full of rainwater, you get to drop it with no penalty directly in back of the bunker, so you still have a tricky shot of chipping over the bunker. People are talking about local committees and such which we just don’t have at our level. My league and playing partners gave the free drop with no issue. My original purpose of this post was just to understand what the “real” rule is, and I now know. But now I also want to encourage people to see that many long time golf rules are outdated and illogical, and hopefully encourage people to push for change. They made some changes in the last few years, so I’m hopeful the game I love will improve if enough people speak out. A lot to hope for posting in a little forum I know, but you have to start somewhere.
    • You get a penalty stroke because your local committee didn't do their job, they didn't address the specific conditions using the tools available to them within the Rules.  The rulemakers contemplated just this situation, bunkers being so filled with Temporary Water that they're unplayable.  The only way to address it "fairly" is to allow free relief outside the bunker, and they do NOT want to allow that on an everyday basis.  So they write the rules as it is, and allow the Committee to override the normal rule in the rare instance where the bunker really is full.  That's what your "local league" does, they invoke Model Local Rule F-16, which treats flooded bunkers as both GUR and as General Area.  Relief from GUR in the General Area allows relief in the General Area (i.e. outside the re-defined bunker).  Its quite a logical way to approach a relatively rare situation. Separately, consider your concern about temporary Water in the fairway.  I've seen situations in relatively level fairways where the Nearest Point of Complete Relief  from Temporary Water is 30 or 40 yards away, further from the green, even in the rough.
    • There you go, @yungbuck6. Your hips aren’t really shifted forward and your head tips back. The camera angle isn’t good so what looks like hip slide could actually just be extension towards the ball.
    • But there's more to weight shift than just where you finish. How your weight transfers throughout the swing matters too.  But you're saying you can see it better than a device that can measure it? Got it.  Yeah I'm good here, good luck to whoever tries to coach you.
