I think Steve will be remembered more than the caddy of Hogan and Nicklaus. Steve has gotten a lot of media attention, both because he is the caddy of Tiger, but also because he is pretty decisive and don't take any crap. If Tiger wants people to move, Steve is going to get them moving. If Tiger wants to make a high five, Steve is there to mess it up, like only those two can. Fluff looks like a little puppy compared to Steve, being a rottweiler. I see no reason to give him the boot really. Steve is not Tiger's swing coach. He can hold a club up against his head, but surely can't be blamed for the stuff Tiger is struggling with. Nor will a new caddy make things better. Tiger doesn't have a lot of people on his side anymore, Steve has been there all the time and is loyal to him.

I probably know 2-3 other caddies of the top of my head on tour. Bones, though I have no idea what he looks like. Fluff, probably because he was Tiger's earlier caddy. And a woman, the caddy of Henrik Stenson, only because she is a woman.

Normally when a vote of confidence is given, the pink slip is not too far away. However, since it's the employee giving himself a vote of confidence, I'd venture to see he'll still be around.

I don't think Tiger will replace Steve. They're too good together.

I think you guys may be missing one point of view here... If Tiger is truly trying to save his marriage his wife may be telling him that everyone needs to go who knew about all this incidents and did not say anything. A womans perspective is very unique, I am just speculating but I am married and can see how that may happen...

I'm pretty sure she's already filed for divorce. Not much saving is possible.

In Hogan's day, caddy's were supposed to "Show Up, Keep Up and Shut Up." or so I have read. I think if any caddy ever offered Mr. Hogan any advise he would have found a golf shoe up his a$$ so far he would have tasted cleats.

Nicklaus had the same caddy for years, Angelo Argea and I remember Johnny Miller's caddy (can't recall his name) being one of the first who was more of a partner on course than others. I think the days of the caddy being well known or even known at all is pretty recent. But the media attention brought to the sport by Tiger combined with the 24x7 sports and golf media has made some of these pro loopers as well known as some athletes.

Either a caddie's advice on the course is important or it isn't. Tiger's been losing. To say Stevie has no part in it is to say he's not a factor. If he's not a factor, he's expendable. If he is a factor, then he's part of the problem and he's expendable.

Tiger needs a fresh start and a clear head and even if Stevie's doing a good job (and who knows if he is) his time may be up.

I noticed that he was not wearing his ring at Whistling Straits.

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

I loved when Stevie called Mickelson a prick....classic

"During an event in New Zealand in December 2008, he made news for comments about Phil Mickelson. According to The Guardian newspaper of Britain he said, "I wouldn't call Mickelson a great player, 'cause I hate the prick". In a next-day interview with another newspaper, the New Zealand-based Star Times, Williams also said, "I don't particularly like the guy. He pays me no respect at all and hence I don't pay him any respect. It's no secret we don't get along either."

How much respect does Tiger show Bones? I've never seen Tiger's caddie do or say anything that warranted any respect - he seems like an oafish thug actually.

Meh, he just says what he feels.

I met him once in a petrol station back in NZ, and he was a nice guy.

It depends on what kind of advice he's giving. Most of Tiger's troubles have been hitting bad shots and getting in trouble, it's not clear that he's had strategic problems which is what I'd expect a caddy to be weighing in on most. Obviously you could argue that a strategy that involves the kinds of shots he's been missing is flawed, but if that's the case I'd suspect its because Tiger doesn't want to play the dialed back strategy, in which case Stevie sort of has to go with it. The comment at the US Open about one of the three blunders being Stevies is obviously a sign of at least one serious error (in Tiger's mind), but I don't know that anyone knows whether there are any other problems.

My feeling is that Tiger's woes are mostly Tiger's. Stevie can't just tell him "ok, landing area is 310 yards out, 10 yards of right-to-left breeze, and don't f__k up this drive, moron."

Its not like Stevie hasnt grabbed cameras from people, and muttered a boat load of profanities towards the spectators on more than a few occassions..... Right? Mayby Phil has seen some of his antics and has no respect for him due how he treats others? I'll take ten Fluff's or Bones over "Stevie the thug".........anyday.
