Why so little coverage of the Deutsche Bank?

Golf is happening right now and I can't watch it! It will be on later from 12-3 PST. It seems like a big event like this should have extended coverage - what's up with that? Golf channel is showing the Mon-Weds crap while a pga playoff tournament is being played?

And only hole 18 on-line? Seems like, again, there should be more coverage.

Somebody please run down there with a web cam and laptop. It would be appreciated!

It runs Friday-Monday for Labor Day so today is actuall second round coverage. It is probably getting the same amout of second round coverage that most tournaments get. I would guess it is a little harder to put on a good TV event when all the players are scattered around the course (or already off) and there isn't a group of leaders battling.

Actually less . . .and the coverage doesn't get much better for Sunday or Monday. For Round 1 and 2, all we get is 3 hours condensed coverage on the Golf Channel. For Rounds 3 and 4 there is only the std network coverage, no early coverage on the Golf Channel. Even ho-hum tournaments get that . .and this is a playoff event featuring all the top players. I would EXPECT 5 hours of coverage on the golf channel for rounds 1 and 2 as well as early coverage for round 3 and 4. I would also expect there to be at least one more on-line option as well (marquee group, another hole, etc).

This is a play-off, not the Greenbrier!

Because of Labor Day on monday here in the US, this tournament is (and has been) friday-monday. They like to end it on a holiday.

Have you checked out ESPN3.com? It carried live golf from 9 AM to 6 PM (EDT, of course). It will be on ESPN3.com on Sunday and Monday at 10:30 AM to 6 PM (EDT--that's Eastern Daylight Savings Time).

Also don't forget that it's the first Saturday for college football in the States, and finishing the tournament on Monday allows NBC to air Notre Dame's opening game during what would otherwise be the third round of the tournament. That's a very important point to the programming execs.

Masters has always been that way. Augusta has complete control and they don't allow much coverage the first couple days.

The first players are on the tee. Yesterday the world's #1 ranked golfer shot one of his best rounds of the year while the GOLF CHANNEL showed reruns of Top 10 golf videos. Hope he has a good round today . .the Golf Channel will be showing re-runs of Top 10 Greatest Golf Videos and Destination Golf (btw - could a show possibly suck more than this one?) and 2 hours of the Nationwide tournament during Tiger's round.

There's no explaining to do. They didn't have the rights to broadcast the tournament during that time. 3-6, that was their slot. You can't just violate the terms of a contract because you want to see earlier coverage. It's the second round - they don't cover the earlier times for first- or second-round coverage.
