Just kidding, of course - looking forward to reading the review.

Is the X'ed out logo actually a silhouette of Matthew Broderick's face? If so, count me as a future devotee!

No image, it just said Titleist Pro V1 but there was a row of X's across the word "Titleist". The guy who sold it to me said it was very top secret and he could get in trouble for even selling me the ball so I probably shouldn't say anymore. It cost a LOT . .but it was worth it. Added 50 yards to my drive - easy.

Actually it didn't say Pro V1, just said "TEST".

Verdict - it's harder, longer with the irons (about the same off the driver), not as spinny. This, of course, based only on my friend's swing.

He still has two left!

Sounds like a Titleist DT or So-Lo to me. Why would they want to test a ball with the same characteristics as several others they already produce?

Well, they have been releasing new ProV1s every two years, so 2011 seems like it's right on schedule. I've heard that they are checking out new dimple patters, but that they wouldn't make it into the 2011 line.

Titleist says 2009-2010 Pro V1x version are longer than the older version, longer by not much but 2-3 yards. I am playing both 2008 and 2009-2010 versions of Pro V1x, there isn't much difference for me except the psychological factor that 2009 is longer.

2-3 yards longer on a perfectly struck shot, which we mid handicappers are rarely blessed with achieving. For me, that 2-3 yard difference is perhaps 2-3 inches.

My friend played these on Thursday and was not impressed. Acted like a NXT Tour. Not bad, but not great either. If you sign up on the Titleist website they might send you a sleeve to report on.

Just got my "Test" Titleist golfballs in the mail......they said that we should play them side by side with our regular ball, using the same club on each shot. So I guess I'll have to schedule a practice round, as i don't think my golf buddies will let me play 2 balls.

    • Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
