The feel I have for rotating the rib cage ties into the right side bend stuff from my previous post.

Drill I've been doing to reinforce that feel. Goal is to make contact with my right ribs on the backswing and then reverse it on the downswing.Β

This is pretty darn good for me. Can see my left arm, crinkles on my right rib cage, legs aren't super saggy, there's some space between my hands and body, handle is "high", not low. The targets in the background are my son's archery bales.

Also been getting some gains with my speed training, fastest one so far. Just got this radar for my birthday. This is not with my driver where I'm hitting a ball. This is with the light weight green Super Speed training aid, I think it's 20% lighter than a standard driver. This was towards the end of a session where you go all out with the lightest club.Β

Ha, thanks.

Tough to say that everyone needs to do it but it can't hurt. If someone can pick up 3-5mph why not, I don't see any negative consequences. For me it's something I needed to do, it's worked and I'm going to continue to keep doing it, to gradually getΒ faster or at least maintain.

On the backswing my left side (upper rib cage area) is "crunched" while my right side is being stretched. On the downswing it would be the opposite, "crunching" my right side while stretching the left side. If I do this I'll be able to touch the pipe behind me.Β That aids in the rotation, speed, good delivery of the club head (for me).

Reason I'm working on this is becauseΒ I have a tendency to drift my head forward early in the downswing. Head going forward in of itself isn't necessarily bad but I do it while I maintain my left bend. If my head drifts forward (with left bend) I won't be able to "crunch" as much with my right side (right lateral bend) and that will change how much I can rotate and the pitch my torso rotates on. Which then will have an effect on what my arms and legs do. Basically my head drifts forward which leads me to tuck my pelvis which then stalls my rotation and limits the amount I can side bend.Β

That's why I posted that picΒ of Zach Johnson, when I do it right I feel the way he looks, torso open and "bent" to the right, right shoulder/right arm much lower than the right.

Here's two pieces of advice Dave Wedzik gave me in the past couple years that's really stuck with me.Β I've been working on it one way or another and very much ties into those swings I just posted.Β

"My thoughts are to shift the left arm out fast and slide the right elbow down and in front - open up as quick as you can to keep pace with this arm movement (quicken EVERYTHING). It will likely feel like your torso is wide open by 6 which will force your hips to open up quicker Β I think the shallowing in transition is good. I think it's really important to keep hammering that so that it's locked in -- I want you to be able to think less about that when you shift that left arm out and down FAST. I want you to shift the left arm out and left hip back into the "wall". Sense that the speed comes from rotary motion and pushing up. You don't have to worry about getting too much across or about coming "over it".

"Hold (feel increase maybe) your pelvic/shoulder slants just a split second longer in start down and then have the feeling that the right shoulder gets lower and closer to the ball all the way into impact (you'll sense more right side bend). Jumping part should take care of itself from there."

Probably more info than you were looking forΒ ;-) but actually good for me to write it all down.

Yeah,Β I've read that you lose it shortly after you stop doing it regularly.

I think that makes sense, "use it or lose it" type of thing. I started doing it about a year ago, 3 times a week like they recommend and gradually saw an increase in speed. Then I got lazy and was only doing it once a week or once every two weeks but was able to maintain the same speed. The past couple weeks I've re-dedicated myself to it and I'm getting faster.

Making progress. Sticking with the same takeaway and torso feels on the downswing.

He he he, Β dtl two butt checks visible at impact with bent right arm is porn to some. Β What I like most about your swing is the space you have created at the top. Β I really like the hands position at the top and the handpath starting down. Β Too many I see do that stuck inducing vertical drop from the top and create trouble and compromise the space.

Obviously this is the result of a lot of hard work and anyone who hasn't tried to work on things in golf has no idea about that.

Cheers.

Fortunately never had that issue, if anything I can get the hands moving"out" a bit too much early on.

Thanks, appreciate that. Yes too many golfers think they should be able to change things quickly and when they don't see immediate results they move on to the next "tip" or quick fix.

Great swing and progress from the beginning. I have a couple questions, How often do you take lessons and how many range sessions a week do you get in?

I take an in-person lesson every 4-6 months but I send my instructor updates/check-in videosΒ every couple of weeks.Β

I hit balls for 45-60 mins 4-5 times a week, play once or twice a week. I practice at home about 10-20 mins a day which is actually theΒ most effective practice I do.Β
