Nothing against the guys in the lead, but here's the top 5 after round two, Furyk, Donald, Ogilvy, Choi, and Goosen. I mean does it get any more boring for the tv spectator? These guys rarely even crack smiles...... hopefully some of the younger guys can make a run tomorrow

Well, smiling isnt really their "job" - the problem is that golf has become quite boring to watch. Some people might say, it has to do with Tiger not being in the field - others might say, its boring as hell to watch them play pitch&PUTT; all the time, and unfortunately the PGA Tour doesnt do a good job in being inventive how to entertain the viewer better. Isnt it ironic that the players are allowed to play with all the modern gear they can find, but we as viewers basically get the same style of broadcast they used decades ago (apart from HD and a couple of Protracers...). And TV ratings for the PGA Tour dont look too well at the moment, so Mr. Finchem better watches out when he going into the rights negotiations in 2012 i think. I really cant imagine they will give him more money than as of right now, esp. if Tiger has another crappy year and the TV ratings continue to sink.

The early wake-up calls were necessary because NBC is committed to broadcast the Stanford-Notre Dame football game at 3:30 p.m. NBC’s coverage of THE TOUR Championship runs from 12-3:30 p.m.

Yeah thats a nice way of saying - football first and golf gets whatever is left over!

Yeah, even the final event of the playoffs are pushed aside because of football. Can hardly blame them though, the golf ratings can't compare to football ratings. Should've had a golf channel they could air it on.

Seems like the Tour Championship still doesn't quite have that "major" excitement. I love watching golf but I really doubt my heart will be beating when the last pair is walking to the 18th green.

It has definitely come a long way though, the FedEX cup that is. It just takes time for things to grow. In another decade if they keep the current system they have I think the tournament will carry a lot more weight.

Is it just me or does East Lake not seem like the best place to hold the final playoff event? Don't know what it's like to play obviously, and I won't go so far as to say it's boring, but it's a little dull in my opinion, at least from a viewing perspective.

East Lake is a straightforward track; the only element of the course that can be argued as "tricked-up" is the peninsula green on the sixth hole. What doesn't translate well to the viewer watching on TV is the severity of the elevation on the property, which is essentially a massive bowl (with the lake as the low point). Most of the holes play up and down the slopes, explaining how the course includes a 541-yard par four (that descends 100 feet from tee to green) and a 525-yard par 5 (that ascends 100 feet).

In the end he didn't get it done, but 10 under on the weekend was some pretty damned clutch golfing!

Good for Jim. He's one of my favorite golfers, and seems like a good guy. It's also nice to see that his cell phone battery didn't cost him $10 million. So far Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, and Jim Furyk have won the Fed Ex Cup. As much as we like to whine about how a lot of "bad" players are in the top 30, those are 3 of the greatest golfers of the past 15 years.

I like Jim, well deserved win, I really enjoy watching him play. He's not a very long player, so it's cool to watch him hit 3 irons and hybrids into par 3s and 4s. There are enough of those hitting driver and wedge into all par 4s and rarely more than 6i on par 3s. He also got a very good short game and is a good putter. He doesn't make a whole lot of expressions, but I find his game entertaining.

Nick Watney mentioned in an interview yesterday that he was working on something. He didn't play too well, and the caddy told him to exaggerate the feeling of the things he was working on. His caddie also read the putts, which you have to make, but I found it cool that he said he exaggerated things. It's what we often have to do when working on something, exaggerate it.

A bit unfair on Yes! Golf, all that publicity, because the Sophia has a list price of roughly 7 or 8 times that. It's not as if it's a no name piece of junk.

I picked one up for considerably less than that. It's a great putter!

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

They have more expensive putters, but apparently spending more than $40 is unnecessary to win on the PGA Tour if you're a PGA Tour calibre putter. If you're not a great putter, then getting the most expensive

yea well we cant really say he won with a 39 dollar putter because they were selling it for 70 bucks but gave him a huge percent off because he was Jim Furyk in their shop. 70 bucks to me isnt a no name putter, if he had went into walmart and picked up some 20 dollar dunlap putter then I would be impressed.

if this was the case. we could say most players won with a free putter because they certainly didnt pay anything for it

Good job Jim! Loopy swing and all. On a side note...I wish I could say I paid $39 for my yes! putter....

yea I know, he got a good deal on one. He was playing with the Yes! Sophia putter and if you look those up online they are like 140 bucks everywhere. That golf store must of already had them marked down. Too many people are making it sound like he picked up a putter from walmart

I'll respond to a few here. There's nothing wrong with Ryan moore's tie. Tee times were moved up because storms were coming in, gc had coverage before NBC. And yeah it did seem there wasn't a lot of people there, but it could have been the weather. So glad to see furyk win, that was an awesome up and down on 18. And he proved it's not the putter, it's the guy holding it.

Football? What do I care, Bears don't play until tomorrow night. :)

I heard Jim got up and down 8 times out of 8 times from the bunkers and on 18th hit a $10,000,000+ (his wining on the tournament) bunker shot to secure the win.
