I hate it when a cameraman stands directly behind a player who's practising his backswing...

Yeah, that one was stupid. First the cameraman was in front of Tiger, filming him while he does some practice swings. While he is still swinging, the cameraman shoves his camera in Tiger's face and end up getting hit with the club on the backswing. What a moron...

Maybe because Irish people are prone to say "fiddle dee dee potatoes" at the drop of that little hat?

Who's to say it wasn't a Euro fan who yelled it?

I'd argue it may have been a euro fan as they said it just as Dustin Johnson was about to swing, then backed off and started over.

What about pedantic British commentators who don't know who's who, but insist on calling the individual matches "games" and correct their offsider when they say "match".

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Announcers who say "fairway metal" and "utility club". I don't care what nomenclature is the most accurate, hearing someone say "fairway metal" or "utility club" makes them seem brand new to the game of golf and/or that they're stuck in 1992 or 2002 respectively. It's a fairway wood, or just call it a 3 wood, 4 wood, or 5 wood. And it's called a hybrid. Everybody on this forum gets this, and so should a paid golf announcer.

Terms for clubs change, the could call a 3 wood / 3 metal a spoon if you really wanted traditional term

Yeah, they do change. Nobody calls them fairway "metals" anymore, and nobody calls them "utility" clubs anymore. Fairway wood and hybrid are the generally accepted, widely used terms. When I hear an announcer use these terms I just think:

I'd say it may have something to do with crushing the ball, or mashing it like a potatoe. It's still rude to do it while someone is swinging.

It was not said during his swing.

I recently ate just one mashed potato. I just hate it when commentators for any sport criticize the players like they could do it better. Johnny Miller is really the worst about this.

Uh, with the exception of very, very few people in the history of golf, Johnny Miller

could (or did) do it better. Say what you want, but the guy was among the best ballstrikers the game has seen AND he won his fair share of majors and PGA Tour events. So...

I don't mind listening to Johnny Miller. He says what's on his mind. I think it reminds us all that they also do stupid things out there from time to time.

A bit over the top for my taste. Same goes for Poulter, he was a bit too much at times. Overton was worse though.

It's all a matter of perspective isn't it? Overton was really excited and based on his post round interview he's just a big kid. Poulter is very competitive and thrives on beating someone face to face.

In this format I have no particular problem with either guy. Or even the Cirque du Molinari.
