Do any of you feel like you play better in tough conditions?

The cold is something that bothers me probably more than anything else. My swing just gets really stiff and this causes some off center hits which seem to really sting my hands because of the temps.....I don't mind playing when it's cold, but I just expect my game to not be there.

I play most of my golf in high winds and rain and cold , I would give anything to play in good weather all the time, some of you guys are very luck where you live.
I suppose I'm use to it now, but when I travel and play in say another country where the weather is fine and temps are up and your not restricted wearing rain gear, I have shot some of my best scores.
How ever I do play better than my playing parteners in really bad weather, I think I'm easier on my self when a shot goes astray , I also play less aggressive in bad conditions.

I do seem to play difficult courses better than the easier ones. However I am not a good wind or cold player and have difficulties with either/both of those conditions. You would think you could stay better focused in difficult conditions, but doesn't seem to be the case with me. I difficulty with wind as I hit the ball pretty high and can't seem to master the "Tiger stinger". Not to sure what the problem is with cold, but just can't seem to get in rhythm when it is cold out. Good news is that doesn't happen very often around here, bad news is it was both windy and cold this morning and was 8 strokes over my handicap.

I have shot my lowest tournament scores in very windy conditions. I live in Central Texas, so it is always windy. I think that it is more fun to play in the wind, because I like to play different shots. I love it when I have a cross wind and I can work my draw into it and make it go straight. And when I have a draw wind I love to throw a 30 yard draw in there.

Yes, I seem to play better in tough conditions. For some weird reason, I hit better in the rough than on the fairway.

It's been windy and cold here for the better part of two weeks. I shot my worst round of the year (87) two Saturdays ago because I wasn't closing off my follow-through, hitting shots fat, and the ones I struck well, got up in the jetstream and went way off line. I followed that up with a 76 on Sunday. I made some changes the week after, and went 74-71 on the same course last weekend (the 71 was in 40 deg temp with 20-25mph wind). To me, it's all about cutting your swing down to be able to control the ball flight as well as making good decisions in club selection, if you can do that, you'll do okay, if not, you'll get killed.

i generally tend to play about the same. good example was last weekend... i played the same course saturday and sunday. saturday was sunny, 60 degrees and a 10 mph wind, and i shot 78. sunday was cloudy, 40 degrees, 15-20 mph wind and i shot 77.

now a different tough "condition," i definitely play better if i'm in trouble on the course. if i hit a drive that winds up in the rough somewhere, and i have to hit a strong wedge directly over a tree to get on the green, 9 out of 10 times i can do it. but you give me a shot in the middle of the fairway that's the exact same distance, i'll probably only hit the green about 7 times out of 10. god knows why. i guess i'm so used to being in trouble that i get kind of bewildered when i'm actually in a fairway, haha.

play the worst in wind and cold. I just cant wrap my head around hitting a 5 iron the distance i should be hitting 8 or 9 iron. the cold cause of my back, just cant loosen up enough and i hate the cold regardless

I think I do play better in tougher conditions... I shot a 75 yesterday, yes not a great score, but it was in a 35+ MPH wind on a tough course...I shot + 5 on the front and -2 on the back. I hung in there and made 4 birdies on the back with 2 bogies... It was one of those rounds that was not great but showed some good drive internally...

Like I've said...my original premise is that, in tough conditions, I'm so worried about getting the ball around the course that I A.)Don't get too caught up on technical things, B.)Play more sensibly and, thus, usually score better.

I often times play better in tougher conditions.  I think I tend to tell myself before the round "well it looks like I'm going to play like dog crap today" and I always surprise myself.  I guess it gets me to play looser.

I generally play better in bad conditions b/c I'm thinking more and stay in the moment better and just play shots I know I can pull off. I also like the pressure of money games cuz it keeps my head in the game, and as above, I pretty much stick with shots I know I can make.

I normally just don't play in bad weather conditions.

I have had some of my better rounds when I am not feeling my best, though!

I shot my best 9 hole score of 39 in rainy conditions. Then yesterday I had the worst 18 hole round of my life in cold windy conditions. For me, I think it's the cold that doesn't suit me, it's the jacket and the layers that seem to mess with my swing. In AZ I normally don't need to wear a jacket

I play better in nice calm weather.  We really don't get many windless days around here and I cherish them.  I think I might even play better in the morning, or at least that's my favorite time to play.

Yesterday we started at 11:30, it was 61* and slightly breezy.  At the turn the air got clear and the wind shifted.  At the 11th tee box the line of clouds came over.  At the end it was 31* with wind gusts to 41 mph, wind chill of 19*.  I did not play better.

Rain bothers me a lot because I need to readjust my putting stroke on a drenched putting green.
