Sorry 140 letters is not going to be enough for this rant! Just seen Ricky Fowler has been given rookie of the year! Yes he's had a good year but rory mcilroy 3rd in 2 majors and an absolute demolition of the field at quail hollow! Oh yes and on the winning Ryder cup team! Please! Is this yet another case of protectionism by the pga tour or are they so desperate to win something! Wouldn't have something to do with Rory not joining the tour next year? Maybe the PGA tour just employs the same voting process as FIFA! Come on , fairs fair!

haha, as much as I hate that, especially the comment about the winning Ryder Cup team, he's right. Rory has done more than fowler this year.

This is probably as close to Twitter as I'll ever get.

Oh yeah, and whether or not he's right about the motives, he's 100% correct that Rory had a better rookie year on the PGA Tour.

Rory did have a better year, but I'm not even sure he was eligible. He played 11 PGA Tour events in 2009... I'm not sure he was a "rookie" this year.

Don't bring logic into this. Let's just have another go at "The PGA tour sucks! No the Euro Tour sucks! No you suck!"

Rory was a member of the PGA in 2010, but as Erik mentioned he did have 11 starts in 2009
so IMO, he's not a "rookie" and Fowler deserved the title

agreed, Rory did have a better year

Rorys rookie year on the PGA was 2010, he had a win, and was generally more successful than the very talented fowler, I wonder how much the PGA decision was swayed by rory going back to play his golf on the European tour???????

When the FedEx was still in full swing, the PGA Tour website ran a story profiling all the PGA Tour rookies and the two front runners were Fowler and McIlroy. I'm going by memory here, but even though they conceded Rory was the better player and had more success, they were leaning toward Fowler because of his flair and the attention he brings to the Tour. It sounded kinda g**, but apparently that's the direction they went.

The real question is which is the bigger crime against humanity, Ricky's clothes or Rory's hair?

Ah ha ha your right they both look ridiculous , but I bet my balls they will give us some fireworks over the next few years.

What a pathetic reason for picking Fowler, to the extent that what you say is true.

Get a good hair stylist* ----> get picked for ROTY. *or not, as the case may be. p.s. I like Fowler's attitude, ditto for Rory. But I thought these guys were golfers.

That's a toss-up. Whatever happened to just letting your game do the talking?

Rory seems to be OK with it. That's good enough for me.

Rory was ranked 10th in the World when he started in the US, Hardly a rookie.

If you asked him he didn't even think he should be considered, I think that was taken into consideration.

Ignorance is bliss:

Dustin Johnson, who said he did not vote, was not aware the award had been announced Saturday night. "He's going to get votes because he had a decent year," Johnson said of Fowler. "But McIlroy is going to win. He's got to win." Told the result, Johnson added, "Rickie won? Maybe he's an American. I don't know why."
