How often do you smoke?  I havnt had a weed hangover since highschool...  Now i smoke and within an hour im completly sober.  I do know that i used to golf horribly high, like you i would top it, hook, and over shoot the green's.  Now i find that it calm's me down and helps to relax me, no more freaking out about a poorly hit shot.

Weed hangover; didn't know it existed.  You and Carl Spackler must have smoked the front nine.  Probably just an off day; I have more than my share of them, especially in the early season.

It's remarkable how many people actually know what the effect could be a day later. I don't have any experiential input to give regarding pot but alcohol hangovers definitely have a negative effect on my game so I would imagine weed would do the same.

Well when i say weed hangover i kinda mean in a haze the next day, i remember feeling like that when i first started taking a couple tokes here and their. Also smoking a high grade of hash(concentrated trichomes from the marijuana plant for those who dont know) can def keep you high for a good 12 hours leaving a strange after glow.

im not saying it is like a hangover...

My mind just drifts, hand-eye coordination isn't quite as sharp the next day.

focus is the most important thing in golf and marijuana does the exact opposite

It wouldn't affect your motor skills, hand eye coordination, and whatnot the next day.  If your not used to it, you could definitely feel "burnt out" or a little weighed down the next day which could certainly affect concentration...

I got what your saying, everything is somewhat in a haze.  To be honest i think it kinda depends on the person, because for me it's only helped my focus, it slows my thought process down allowing me to focus shot by shot and not hole by hole.  Also like i said, if i hit a bad shot its whatever, i dont freak out and ruin the next couple holes because of it.

I remember in college one of my golf buddies would smoke right on the course... he was a great golfer and he would get high as a kite!  He was around a  10-12 hc and would empty out his cigarette and fill it with the green stuff... I was always worried we'd be arrested or something lol maybe just some of his paranoia rubbing off on me haha... I know the worst rounds I've played have been due to lack of sleep or hangover from the night before.  So I cant imagine a "weed hangover" being any different.

Weed hangover? Has everyone that is claiming this exists actually done the drug?

Yep ive used it everyday for over 5 years.  A weed Hangover does exist, it's not like an alcohol hangover which is what im assuming everyone is comparing it to.  More or less if you smoke to much and everything is somewhat in a haze the next day..  This really only applys to people who rarely smoke though.

Watch alittle to much reefer madness? Lol man you should just relax and take a puff.  There is nothing wrong with smoking the herb, as has been proven over the past 10 years that it has ton's of tremendous quality's.

There is alot of sucessful people who smoke herb, IE Michael Phelps.

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
