Tiger is actually having a pretty good day, especially with the putter and irons. Plus, he shaved the goatee.

Tiger is 5 under for the day so far. Fowler is making a charge with his 6 under so far. I want DJ or Mahan to take it home.

His irons has been pretty good all week, probably a little bit better today. His putter has started working again, he's switched to the Method for the weekend. The stray tee shots remain, but he's showing he can play good golf, which we've known all along of course.

So far it's looking to be a pretty good finish, lots of experienced players with wins within 2-4 shots of the lead.

It's the mid-mallet Method that he used at the Chevron.

Couple things - On the Method switch, I think the problem is more between his ears. You're exactly right, iron play has been good, as he definitely had a lot of good opportunities Friday from within 10-12 feet, but when he switched to the Method yesterday, he was still leaving a lot of putts below the hole. Not really a knock on the Scotty or the Method, more of just an observation, ya know?

On the stray tee shots, I don't know that I ever really remember him having a consistent streak of good driving, I think he'll live with that as long as he plays. As long as he's not popping them up and ending up only 120 yards down the fairway Has he ever had a good stretch of driving the ball accurately? Like even back when he was with Butch?

And I think this stretch right now has got to be good for him, finishing strong today, and then going into Tavistock this week. It will get him lots of reps, and while Tavistock isn't a Tour event, it is still competitive. He'll be locked in, but maybe not with the same pressure, if that makes any sense. Know what I mean?

He was about 76% in '99 and about 71% in '00, and those were with Butch. Every other year he has been below 70%, including a handful of years in the 50s.

Cool, thanks for the info! So yeah, basically, it's fair to say it has been his approach to trade accuracy for distance, and I think we'll keep seeing that.

And this is making for an excellent finish. 3 tied at -14 (never mind, changed as I was typing this), and a bunch right on their tails.

Side note - just noticed Donald teeing off with a white Burner. Not that this is an uncommon occurrence at all, but I wonder why he doesn't use one of the Mizuno drivers. The MP Titanium 3W I've got is just as long as anything else I've ever hit, and I was under the impression that MP-630 from last year performed just as well as comparable drivers. Guess it just didn't fit him as good, I dunno. Just another observation

Tiger has never been a good driver of the ball. Many like to say he won all those tournaments despite of his driving issues. He won 6 times in 2009, but never hit it very well with the driver.

Luke is probably getting more money from Taylormade. He sure is deadly with a wedge in his hand btw.

Agreed on the Tiger part.

As for Donald, I think he's played Taylor Made drivers for a long time, so that's probably just what he is comfortable with. I'm with you on the MP Titanium woods, those things are super long!

Bad joke of the day - I feel like Jonny Vegas (not gonna try to spell his first name correctly) should be a character in a Grand Theft Auto game. He could play the part of a crooked, flamboyant, but lovable PGA player that gets in a bad situation with some Russian mobsters over some unpaid "escort" fees.

i dont think he cares for mizuno drivers much, nothing new for tour guys. Last year he was using a Titleist 909 driver so its not just taylormade that hes comfortable with

Looks to be a race between Johnson and Watney now. I like the DTL view of Fransesco Molinari's swing. Simple and very good angles.
