This isn't a review of the book; I just got it yesterday. I "paged through" a few sections last night, but the book looks good - informative, helpful. I think Tom Watson is a classy guy, with that "fatherly" attitude and his book reflects that same manner. I did see in some of the chapters, Tom talks to his swing, his methods and then to US . the book has parts that says (in essesence), for you amateurs, you should ... ... ...

I cannot wait to delve into the book this weekend (high temps in the 40's, no golf in WI) and also come back on here and see what others are saying as well. Enjoy!!

I make all my own clubs:

Look forward to hearing how it is. I saw him on the golf channel the other day and heard a few talking about the book. I will definitely be ordering it soon.

I just picked up this book last night after reading the first 48 pages in the Cafe' at Barnes & Noble.  Pretty good read so far.  The photographs do a great job of showing what he is teaching. In addition the book has bar coded video lessons.  I still need to download the app to access but they link up to what was being described in the book.  I will be reading this  over the next few days while I am on vacation and should be able to take some of his methods out to the range and course to see how they play.  I will update as go along.  I have not seen any talking down to us amateurs.  So far it has been more like this "I see this with Amateurs" or " my high handicap friends".

Had this for a while, its a good read. Im a visual learner so found this easy to pick up as the photo's are top quality and descriptive (if photos can be that???).

Some of the mental images he has such as the goal posts and swinging in a barrel helped me lots. Sure there are a few things that i didnt get on with but is mure thats the sam with pretty much any instructional book.

I enjoyed the way he starts with the basics as its amazing how many bad habits you pick up. His swing sequences from front, back and dtl are great pointers.

Its a great read even if you dont subscribe to his way of swingin the club as there are little anecdotes and "Watson memories" to keep you entertained.

    • Day 343 - Mostly worked on pitching, but getting back to my full-swing work, as well.
    • Day 237 (26 Dec 24) - played 18 with niece and her husband at one of the local courses.  We were first out - so we pretty had our own pace of play.  First few holes were a struggle, but the groove started by hole 5.  The green side wedge game kicked in - had several kick in up and down pars.  Best of the day - had my first ever sandie birdie on #9. It’s a neat par three with a pot hole bunker - found it off the tee.  Had about a 22yd shot from the bunker to the flag.  Hit an easy shot out with the 54 that hit softly and gently rolled center cup.  Had several other close wedge shots into others that were close but no hole out.  Was a great day with the green side wedge game - and seeing solid fruit from the drills.
    • Day 16: 12/26/2025 A little more mirror work today. Then out to the garage net.  The first part of my PPJ swing thought is really starting to stick. The J still takes some focus. Plus, I'm still putting a priority on getting all the way to my finish.
    • Day 87 - 2024-12-26 Practiced for about an hour after doing a bunch of little maintenance things downtown.
