Hello Saijin ,

Actually it is not that hard to hit a 360 yard drive, and I will share with you a secret that allowed me to increase my distance .

I use the so called ' chicken wing ' technique with my driver. I do not use it with my other clubs but only with a driver. I must tell you though, when looking at this kind of swing, most people with tell you that it is completely wrong . And it is a bit wrong, you should only use it if you really want to increase your distance.

The idea is simple, as you know we combine all the moving forces/parts of the body simultaneously to increase the power of the forward vector. There is however one part/movement of the body that is not used in the conventional golf swing, one that is thought to be wrong, but, it is another movement and has potential power.

It is the left shoulder and elbow, when you lift the left shoulder up during impact, to make a kind of chicken wing , it will give you more power. It is almost exactly the same as what we do when we try to keep the face of the club open like when playing from thick grass or dont want the clubface to close. Only this time you combine the chicken wing with a closed clubface.

no no no people will say - but you must challenge the conventional always

My friend has a blackerberry and he said he will film me when we go to the driving range tonight. Then I can show you the chicken wing . My handphone does not have a camera, and my company took away my old blackerberry when they had to let me go two months ago (Dont feel bad for me though because they were numpties anyway ).

Also my friend, do not ever be afraid to experiment on the range. If anybody is having a giraffe at you, then just have a giraffe with them. Let them giraffe all they want to - because if you do not experiment then you cannot get better.  I have tried many things on the range, like the old Coke bottle on the left arm, etc... Some were poooopooo , but some things have really helped me.

I will post my chicken wing later.

Bye for now

Hello Friends,

So i went to the driving range yesterdau and my friend took a video of my swing with his blackerberry

I used my friend's R7 driver with a stiff Aldila shaft, NDS? i think . This is about an 80% swing for me without loading up with the legs because the driving range is a bit short and there is a carpark on the other side of the net there.

Anyways, here is my swing and I just want to post this to show you my chicken wing technique! But the video is really a bit pooopooo , so please excusers!

And then here you can see the chicken wing:

rolopolo_chicken_wing.jpg

I just have to say one more thing about the chicken wing technique. Naturally the chicken wing provides an upward vertical force which wont help you much to gain forward power. Therefore, we use the upward force of the chicken wing to provide the upward power needed to get the ball in the air with less spin, which frees up all of our forward power movements to only use on a sweeping driving motion. This way anybody can hit 350 yard drives with a little practise

Thank you all for watching

Interesting posts there rolopolo.  Im not sure about trying your technique, might put me all out of whack on my swing but doesnt cost anything to try.  Im going to try to work on being more consistent with my current swing,  Making solid contact somewhere near the center of the clubface will help most people hit the ball farther.   Im no expert on that but thats when most of my poor drives occur, missing on the heel or toe or too high or low on the clubface.  It doesnt take much to mishit your driver.   New drivers are more forgiving that ever but still not foolproof.   Here in my area I havent even been able to get to a course for almost a week now due to all the rain.   Going to try to go out and play thursday afternoon sometime but it will still be very wet.  Im sure even most of the driving ranges have been closed as well as they probably couldnt go out and pick up the balls after they were hit.

No comment on your problem, but you win a prize for that last post.  While others are posting pictures with twelve different lines drawn on them, all different colors... you throw up your swing with a chicken wing on it.  Love it!

Very unique posting style, and good use of the chicken wing photo.  If it works for you, then great.  People can either take it or leave it.  If you get access to better video technology, post back another vid with more detail.

We need to see a full swing.

That looks like it would hardly make 240 yards.

Love the chicken wing though LOL

Hello all,

Thank you for the kind comments . Some sandtrappers have made some strange remarks which I dont fully understand but I guess they were just having a giraffe .

I am a lover of life, and I believe through a strong community we can all help each other and learn from each other and make the world a better place. Lets all be happy together and share in the beauty of life, the beauty of golf, and all other thing beautifiul and good .

About my driver distance in the above videos - My swing looks very fluid and slowish from the back and maybe its a bit hard to judge but I can assure you that those are not 240 yard swing, those are probably closer to 310 yard swing, but I will try to post some bigger and more clear videos, friends .

I love all of you, and hope all of you have a great time on the golf course this weekend! And let us all remember how very lucky we are to be able to be outside and play golf.

I've hit enough 300+ yard drives to know that hiting the ball > 320 is not "easy", let alone 360 yards (it's safe to say I've probably never done it). If you can do it, and you play golf on real courses (not just the driving range) then surely you're aware that you're an exceptionally long hitter relative to other golfers.

Well, looking at your swing, it looks 90% arms....which would make it EXTREMELY hard to get 310 yards on a drive.....and the chicken wing 99% of the time results in loss of power, not gain.

I knew the chicken wing video would get some replies, though i dont have a way to post my swing on here, im sure i would get a lot of comments as well.  Mine is mostly arms, if i try to consciously turn more and incorporate my lower body, the results are not good.   I probably average around 220 on a decent drive with good contact, might get a couple in the 240-250 range each round but thats about the best i can do normally.   Give me some wind helping or a downhill hole or elevated tee and I might reach 270-280, about 285ish is my longest drive ever.

I'll reserve judgment until a different video comes along, but if that is what a 310 yard swing looks like, then I've been doing it totally wrong all these years.  Compared to Sadlowski's swing (that other 370 yard hitter) Rolopolo has redefined how to get distance with relatively little effort.

I don't wanna come off as an a**hole but that drive is not going +300yrds unless its on a planet with lower gravitational pull. Post some clear video of your drives going 300+ or stop with the poo poo

But I'll admit, the chicken wing was well worth the price of admission!

How about a video of you wrestling alligators? Just giraffing.

You know what Rolopolo, I apologize. I was kinda cranky when I posted yesterday.

Please, do go on.

Cheers.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
