I Broke 70!

Just got back from playing 18 at the local par 72 muni today and had to share.  I was so excited when I got home and looked at my scorecard and it added up to 69!  I knew I was playing well, made 4 birdies, but I didn't even notice I only made one bogey.  First time I've been under 70 and only the second time I've broken par (which happened 2 years ago just from a good ball striking day).  Today, I was just playing good golf, smart moves, never doing anything irrational, and just playing by instinct.  I did make some amazing saves today from under, around, and over trees today.  My partners said they were amazing, never got to see any of them.  I got to 2 par 5's today in 2 after dunking it into the trees and escaping with some crazy 4 iron shots, threading it through these little slivers of light.  My tee game was not as good as it usually is, but my approaches and putting speed were on.  I got away with every crazy escape I tried today and turned out great.  Maybe Seve was watching.

Imagine a NY muni being on par with TPC Sawgrass.  Now for that I woudn't mind making the drive out on the Pike a few times per month.

That is awesome. When I was younger I came close twice, but never did it. That is a heck of an accomplishment for the recreational golfer.

Congrats on 69.. I remember my first time I broke 70.. It was my freshman year at college and playing with my neighbors.. I won a steak dinner.. yummm  My next goal is to get a hole in on.. Grrrrrrr I"m just not that lucky.. or match my age for 18 holes.. I hope I live and play that long.. LOL

Great job dude! I broke 70 when i was about 18 and didnt do it again until last year i shot a 66 I love that feeling, everything is just automatic Congrats again!

Congratulation ! I shot 73 today ..was 3 under for the 1st nine, but shot 4 over at the back nine. Sigh....I thought I have the chance today

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.

      Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
