he's getting some pretty lucky bounces as well. one more foot on his approach, and he'd have been scrambling for par instead of pulling it out of the cup for an eagle. he also got a lucky bounce on 10. so it all evens out.

It seems as though Rory plays better golf when he's not under pressure. Being this far ahead this early should hopefully keep the pressure off which is conductive to his best golf. ;)

Definitely think his humbling Haiti visit had a lot to play in this as it puts golf into perspective.

My gosh Rory has a pretty swing.  It is so effortless and he hits is so far.  He is kind of a runt out there, but he is a bomber.

He's a pretty stocky little guy though and so athletic he makes others look like geriatrics

No, no, no. Stocky is thick and barrel-chested. Graeme McDowell is stocky. JB Holmes is stocky. Lee Westwood is stocky. Rory McIlroy is not stocky.

McDowell is slightly chubby, Westwood is slightly chubby, JB Holmes is stocky

McIlroy I guess is more athletic, he's got a lot bigger in the last 6 months

This has to be demoralizing for the guys teeing off in the afternoon. We're not even into the weekend yet, and it's become a one-man tournament. How do you psych yourself up to post a good score today?

That's true, and there isn't really anyone up the top of the leader board that I can see going super low....possibly McDowell, but he's been pretty streaky as of late

I don't want to say a major championship is over on Friday morning, but...it's over. The last two rounds are an afterthought at this point. Rory can shoot 80 tomorrow and still lead by several strokes.

I wouldn't go quite that far yet but unless the golf gods get bored with it (and we all know they can and do!!!) it's Rory's for the taking.

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
