  1. 1. Considering his 2011 injuries, what should be Tiger's pro tournament strategy?

    • Tee it up in the British Open - play through the pain and go for broke.
      1
    • Play in a couple of low-pressure fall tournaments as a tune-up for 2012.
      6
    • Play no tournaments until Spring 2012 - it's time to get well.
      15
    • Play it really safe - wait until 2013 to make sure he's really healed up.

I can't see him playing past 40 with that knee of his. And if he does, it will fall off by 45

He'll play well past 40. I guarantee you that. His knee will be fine.

We can speculate. This is called a discussion board. We like to express our different opinions.

But you're exactly right...he repeatedly said "I don't know" when asked when he would be back, or if he would play the Open. That's because he really doesn't know. And his injury isn't just the knee and Achilles, it's that entire leg from knee to foot, he said it was a chain reaction.

The Achilles is the short-term issue, the knee is the long term. However long it takes for the whole leg to heal, we don't know and neither does Tiger.

The real long term issue is mental.  How long will it take for him to have confidence in the knee and Achilles to take a full swing from an awkward lie.  He know's the knee is shot, it's not a matter of if, but when he tears the ligament completely or needs to have the knee replaced.  If he can't regain the confidence he had that his left leg will support his swing he's better off shutting it down now, going to surgery and rehabing so he can come back 100% for 2012.

Well, according to his doctors, surgery is not necessary for this injury. Surgery will do no better than just treatment and the rehab he's already in. I know what you mean about having the confidence to hit shots from awkward lies.

Hopefully he gets his game back and plays every shot excellently so he never has to deal with any awkward lies. LOL.

I would put money on him not being as injured as we are led to believe. However, mentally, he is injured, and hanging on for dear life.

If i could find a bookmaker that would let me bet on him never winning a major again, i would pile my life savings on it

Im guessing you guys being mostly americans wouldent know, but, when wayne rooney got caught shagging prostitutes, he also 'injured his ankle' and went to a nike training camp in america to lay low. Coincidence? I think not

I think by "chain reaction," he just meant that the knee started to hurt, and when he started favoring the knee (using other parts of the leg to take pressure off the knee), his achilles started to hurt as well. As far as I know, his calves are fine...

I think he'll come back for the Bridgestone, but I'm leaning more and more towards "skip the rest of the season" every day. Then again, none of us know the extent of the injuries at all.

Yeah, for some strange reason he doesn't release his medical records so all of the amateur MD's can offer an opinion.;-) Of course I still voted wait till next year.

Uh, methinks thou art fibbing. Methinks you could easily find a bookmaker to take that bet.

I think all the skeptics will think TW is faking.

And all the true golf fans will understand Tigers pain, IMO this is a for real thing for Tiger.

I don't know if anyone thinks he's faking. What has he got to earn by faking? If he really wants to regain his legacy, fame, and good standing in the eyes of some of the skeptics, the only way to do that is by playing well, and he can't do that if he's faking an injury.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
