Sadly I'll be out of town. Hope the other guys are free that weekend.

I believe that's the week that Shane was working on getting people together for an outing. That's the Saturday that I start my vacation so I will most likely be there.

I'm still good to go on the 18th if someone was setting that up.  Sounds like we have at least 4 that can play.

So, I was lucky enough to get a chance to golf for free last night. I showed up at one of the courses here after the rain stopped to walk 9 holes and they had already closed down shop because nobody else was showing up and it was already 7 pm. After a bit of back and forth asking about if I was a member, did I have exact change *no*, was a student, etc. The girl finally says, "You can just go out and walk it, he can just go out right?" The guy that was there just kind of looked at her and said "Sure." I asked if she was sure and she said yes but they were going to be leaving, I guess in case anything happened or something. I thanked them and went out golfing. I played decent, but I was besieged by legions of mosquitoes which caused me to rush several shots. They had me so frustrated by the last 3 holes I tried to walk around the tee box a bit then up to the ball to take my stance and get my swing off in about two seconds before they all started landing on me... only worked one time. The other two my tee shot was horrible because of the rushed set up. All in all though, I can't get too angry because it was free and I ended up finding about a dozen golf balls.

I'd guess the blood suckers got to be awful up there in flood country. My lot got bitten up at Miami Shores on Sunday and I'd assume more the same this weekend.

Anyone have suggestions for where to go and where to avoid during mosquitoe season?

In my experience, Madden and Miami Shores can be real bad.

The other course I play isn't nearly as bad because there are only a few holes near woods, but this course has 6 holes in a row that run next to woods. I've never been one to use mosquito repellent but I'm starting to think about carrying some for times like last night. I think I lost at least a few strokes from rushing and frustration from those pests.

Always have cigars in your golf bag. Light one of those bad boys up and they keep the mosquitoes at bay!

You know, I never thought of that. Smoke in general does keep them away... Now, if I only liked to smoke cigars.

Saturday looks like the only day in our general area that is supposed to be decent, hopefully that holds out so I can get some more time on the course with this G25 driver for testing.

Yep. Good to go on the 18th. Still working out the time, but I'm targeting early afternoon. I have the OK from Kittyhawk, but @missitnoonan is seeing if Homestead is open.

Wouldn't mind trying it out on Homestead. Haven't been out there yet this year.

Depending on the # of people, I may invite my Uncle too. Still seeing what timeframe I have open on that Saturday.

I gotta check to see if I can even do that. 2:30-7 kills a huge chunk of the day. I'll let you know about me and my uncle.

Group Golfer Deal: $14 for 18 and cart at Reid in Springfield.

The North course is a bit of a brute. My bruv and I played there a year or two ago and it got real ugly. No diagrams of the holes on either the tee box or the scorecard had us just guessing on a few occasions. Condition wise it was pretty good.  The other thing I've heard recently is that pace of play tends to really suck (although its hard to believe it's much worse than K-hawk).

    • Day 11 - Hoped for a range session but sadly a home improvement project went on three times as long as it should have. So more mirror work today.
    • Day 179: did some mirror work while watching the playoff game. Working on the early backswing stuff. It’s looking pretty good I think.
    • There are several things to unpack here.  First, start a MySwing Thread. It's always tough to help anyone out without seeing their swing.  Second, if you have a "big 2 way miss" and your "all over the face". There isn't a driver that's going to fix that. ... If there was the USGA or the R&A would ban it.  Third, The PING G LST is a great driver. ... just my opinion. But I think its a great driver. I'm not a fan of how it sounds, it's loud, but it performs great.  Forth, I would never cut down a shaft without a fitting. Just choke down a bit. Lots of folks, even some tour pros choke down a bit on the grip.  Fifth, why do you want to hit a pull fade?  Sixth, do you have a swing coach? I'm a firm believer in getting coaching as regularly as you can.  Seventh, I think waiting on a fitting until you feel you've achieved some consistency is a good idea. Again, on this note, work with your swing coach. He or she can help tell you when your ready to get fit for a new driver.  Finally, I think chasing better drives by constantly changing drivers is folly. Drivers are so good now a days, if yours is less than 5 years old it's probably fine. Having said that, if you like shiny things ... and I do... then go for it. Tinkering with your equipment can be fun. I know I like to make some changes in what's in the bag now a again.  Let us know how you get on.
    • You need to push into it, not let it push you forward toward the ball. Stand with your left hip 1" away from a countertop and make a simulated swing there, where your left hip doesn't touch the countertop.
    • I'd recommend getting fit, but basically… a low spin driver is often some of the least forgiving. When you have lower spin, it's much easier to tilt the spin axis. The CG is often closer to the face, too, making it even less forgiving.
