Colin Donald, the father of world No. 1 golfer Luke Donald, died suddenly Monday night, Luke Donald's representatives at IMG Golf said Tuesday. Additional details were not immediately available. Luke Donald was at home in Chicago this weekend with his wife, awaiting the birth of their second child. He did not play in last week's WGC-HSBC Shanghai Open.

Condolences to Luke, Christian and the rest of the Donald family.

Tough on Luke who probably can't fly over to be with his family due to his wife Diane being past the due date for their 2nd child.

Wow, that is a tough one especially if it was unexpected. Must have been a heart attack. I wonder how old he was?

That may well true, but why speculate?

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Very sad for Luke, who has had such a superb year both personally and professionally. Condolences to the Donald family.

I'm gonna go call my Dad.

Why not? It's not like I said he must have harmed himself or something.

Congrats to proud parents Luke and Diane on their new baby girl Sophia Ann Donald, born earlier today. Rollercoaster few days for the family

It's an odd superstition but many seem to believe that someone deaths and births are always close to each other.

I haven't heard that, but I was born just 10 days after my grandfather's(mom's dad) death.

Luke's brother. Was also a good golfer and is now a pro caddie. Carried the bag for Luke and Paul Casey and currently works for Martin Kaymer.
