he wanted to, but his caddie had forgotten to bring the scuba gear today

And that's why Webb Simpson's caddie will never work for Woody Austin.

The Bermuda rough looks really tough. It's a lot different than last week's overseeded rye that was dyed that lucious and uniform green.

Tiger's day was pretty mediocre by the stats.  7/14 fairways, 11/18 GIRs, 1.9 putts/GIR, and 30 total putts.  Putting today was better than his opening round last week, but his ballstriking was worse today than any day last week.  Was the wind that bad today?

Rory, Tiger, and Phil all had pretty mediocre rounds.  We'll see what happens tomorrow.  I'm guessing all three come back with rounds in the 60s.

It looked like the winds were a lot stronger than 20 mph gusts the were reporting on tv...those palm trees were waiving all over the place.

Tiger his some pretty crappy lag putts...a couple of them looked like they were at least 12-15 feet short.  And he hit a few ballsy shots that could have ended up in disaster.  The shot 2nd shot on 8 and then the shot on 18 took some serious stones.  It worked out on 8 cuz he hit the putt for birdie.  On 18 he just hit a crappy chip and then left the putt short.  he looked bothered pretty much the whole day.  It's always a mystery which Tiger personality is gonna show up.  I guess we will see which one shows up tomorrow.

His ballstriking was better and his putting was worse than the stats indicate, because he missed some fairways by a couple of feet, and some greens by a couple of inches. But he had distance control problems in every phase of his game. He was inside of 60 feet on only one of the four par 3 holes, his short game wasn't sharp, and his lag putting was the worst I can remember. He scored pretty well, considering all that.

Tiger will not putt as bad as he did today

It's surprising when Simpson does it.

Going tomorrow. Wind is predicted to be a steady mid-teens breeze probably not as gusty though. I'm not sure who to follow, as there are so many too choose from.

Some of the greens look terrible. There's a lot of discoloration that they said was weather related, one was vandalized in February, and when they zoom in on some putts the ball is moving all over the place. Guess that's why Trump called it tired and will put $200 million into it.

There's way more depth to the PGA than 3 guys.

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
