Hole in One, Oh Yeah!!

Got my fourth today on my home course's third hole. A pretty cake par-3 at only 135y, Hole in Ones are pretty common place on this hole, particularly if the pin is on the bottom tier. Anything hit past the hole has an awfully good chance of rolling back in. Today however, the odds were stacked against me. The pin was on the top tier, which is only about ten paces deep, that has a sizeable mound in the middle that feeds balls left or right. The pin was slighty to the right of the mound today, and to top it off, it was playing to its normal [Winter] 2-club wind. So, what is typically a standard 9iron [on non-windy days], turned into a punch 7iron. It was a sexy punch 7 at that. It came off my clubface absolutely perfectly. A laser beam that never left the flagstick. The ball hit at the back of the green, almost got caught up in the fringe, but because of the severity of the slope and a little help from the wind, it got pushed back on the putting surface and began to trickle, trickle, trickle its way back to the cup, and on what looked like its last rotation, into the hole!

I played with two of the local kids, they got their Pepsi at the end of the day.

I have two and they separated by eleven years. So basically I think I'll have my next one in about seven to eight years from now. Congrats, there is no cooler feeling than writing a 1 on the scorecard.

Oddly enough I played Friday, in the exact same conditions with the flag on the top tier again, and the same kid, Eric, with me. As I stepped to the tee I mentioned to Eric that its "hole in one time again." So, I hit another punch 7iron, and sure enough a laser headed straight for the pin. So I turn back to Eric and give him a look like, oh wow, this could be good. It lands on the back edge of the green, but, this time gets held up in the fringe. Burn! I think turning back in jest the golf gods thought it a bit too much and punished me. Literally six inches less and that thing has a serious chance of trickling back into the cup, just like on Wednesday....
