It's long overdue, but I got there! Shot 77 yesterday on a course I played for the first time. Not very long or difficult with 6200 yards, par 72, but you still have to do it. Easily my best ball striking round ever. 3 birdies 7 pars 8 bogies 64% fairways 55% GIR 31 putts 7 shots better than my playing handicap (12) at this course. Two 3 putts and failed to get U&D; twice from just off the green where I used the putter. Nearly made a 15 footer for eagle after a good drive and great 3 iron. I've been waiting for a round like this for some time. The shots are there, it's a matter of getting them out on the course. Followed up with a struggling 86 today where I had absolutely no control over ball. For some reason my old slice has made it's apperance again. Need a couple of hours at the range to figure it out. Pretty much played a pull-fade all day. Wasn't able to figure out what I did wrong. I did little practicing last year, which I wanted to get started with again. Playing like this is a good motivation.

Congrads. Keep working hard you'll get to the point where you're bad rounds are low 80's and normal rounds are in the high 70s.

Way to go!  I still haven't gotten there, so I know what it's like on the other side of the wall.  Keep it up.  Don't worry, the pull fade should work itself out.

Impressive numbers, must have been an absolute rush being pretty much "on" for the entire round.

Excellent! With 2 shots to spare. Look forward to many more to come.

It's awesome when it all comes together, but it's so difficult to keep it there, eh?

I joined a CC last Oct, and started playing 3-4 times a week (we had a really mild winter in S Jersey) and in Jan put together two weeks of shooting low 80s - high 70s, and thought I was going to get my cap back down to single digits this spring. Then, the game struck back, and I fell back to mid - high 80s. Arrrgh. Presently shooting low 80s though.

Its a constant, beautiful struggle.

Damn that sucks... I haven't gotten to that point yet, my game is still on the rise

Congrats!

Question: why do you say "for real this time?"  I once shot an 80 (my best score to date) but didn't post it because I lost a ball that was right smack on the edge of the fairway/first cut and still couldn't find it anywhwere because I was hitting into the sun and playing solo.  I was playing well and stubbornly didn't want to take a two stroke penalty.  Was it something like that?

I still always get pissed off when I can't find a ball that should definitely be located, but because there aren't officials and gallery members around, it gets lost.

He previously has shot a 78 on a par 68 course.

Personally I thought that was legitimate too as a course I play is rated 67.4 with a 110 slope ... so essentially par 68 (in reality) even if the scorecard shows 71.

i did this two years ago, i dropped from a 14 to an 8 in a season, shot 79 or less 3 times in 6 weeks...i then bought a new property, opened two new business and my game has never gotten close to that since. now just limping along at an 11, tossing in enough good rounds to stay there but shooting 85 most of the time...the 6 shots from 85 to 79 feel like they are about 4 entire holes worth!!

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
