Ok so we have the distance and how far you hit it thread.  This is for the guy who keeps up with other stats.  I have a sg5 Skycaddie and with it comes a free club sg membership.  I currently average 1.68 putts per green or 30 putts a round.  What are you other guys doing?  You know the old saying. Drive for Show putt for dough. What are your putting stats?

That's some impressive putting! My putting, on the other hand, has been atrocious this year! I've had a 78 with 35 putts on a legit track....have also had a 75 with 34 putts. Can't figure it out!!

I'd say I average somewhere around 33-35 putts / round....

My putter is so hot and cold its not really even funny. I have rounds where I have 28 putts and other rounds where I have 38 putts. I would say my average is 32-34. Need to work on that and better approach shots

It is a meaningless statistic.

You could hit 18 greens and have 36 putts.

You could hit 3 greens and have 24 putts.

The fact that you have 24 putts doesn't mean you have putted well, especially if you are putting from off the green on a few holes.

The lower the number of putts, the worse your iron play, usually.

Probably about 1.95 or so.  Anytime I have to lag 30 feet I expect a 3 putt.  Last night I went out to men's night and missed 4 putts within 5 feet. (mind you this was my first time with these guys so I was rushing a little bit)

Per GIR, I think I'm around 2.2--my approach shots are generally not very close.  Per round I'm at 34 currently, with a couple bad rounds to start the year. Has been 33 lately.  Hope to get my average under 32 by the end of the year.

Today, I took 17 putts on the 8 greens (2.125 per GIR) I hit and 34 total.  I actually hit the putter 35 times as I used it once from the fringe.  I used to be a better putter but that is about average as of late.

The stroke felt better than it has been today and I actually made a lot of good 2nd putts as my speed was terrible.  I hope to improve my putting this summer as the greens improve.  Right now, the greens are not really smooth or consistent enough to get much feedback from practicing, so I have mostly just been working on the truth board.

About 32 putts a round, with some variance. One day when I was chipping and pitching well, I had 29. On a day when several clean-up shots were way short or way long, I had 35.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I just started tracking my putts religiously, but it looks like I'm averaging about 34 putts per round.  I should be a lot better, since I've only been averaging 40% GIRs, so I need to work on my wedges and putting a bit more.

34.3 for the last 12 months. 36 since I began about 3 years ago.  Don't think it means much other than... I'm not a great putter.  It would be even worse if I hit more greens.

Seems to me that the better measure here would be putts per GIR or some combo of putts + GIR.

Or just putting percentage by distance.  ...maybe add in distance to the hole after first putt (from a few ranges)...

But I don't keep those stats.

For me it was 79 today with 38 official putts and 40 actual putts counting a 25 footer from the fringe and an 80 footer a few feet short of the green.  Last week, I was +3 on the front (39) with 22 actual putts.

I have no desire to count putts be it 20 or 40. I just look at the final talley. I know when I 3 putt, but have no desire to dwell on it.

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
