Well, I'm just a low life that shops at Wal Mart that doesn't understand the finer things in life.  Maybe someday I can be in a class like you MrSandman.  I can only hope...  I'll try to start getting all pissy and judgemental about the knowledge and attire of those around me.

I personally do not shop at Wal Mart - but I'm not sure why you're willing to offend people that do? I'm not an idiot and I know the whole "Target" compared to "Wal Mart" kid jokes, but I'm not sure how you're going to prove a point with an ending like that?

If my wife went into Wal Mart to buy baby formula because it's two dollars cheaper per quart than Target, that opens her to criticism? Regardless of our net income, saving hundreds of dollars a month would be well worth it.

Get off your little high horse buddy. Having a debate is perfectly fine, but ending with cocky remarks to people you don't know over the internet is going to kill your credibility as an intelligent human being and put people off.

I'm sorry to TST and thread viewers for getting off topic and I will not post in this thread again. I just try to figure out people who try way too hard and don't even have an ego, they just try so hard to be an ass because they lack personality.

Slow play. Don't care what you wear. Don't care what you smoke. Don't care what you drink. Don't care if the pro shop isn't stocked. I do care if my round is 5 1/2 hour long though.

This is pretty much the way I feel.

I actually have no idea what a "Target" compared to "Wal Mart" kid joke is, but anybody making that joke needs to look in the mirror, as there is really no difference between Target and Wal Mart. Both are low class places.

Anyway, if you haven't been bothered by the dumbing down of pro shop staffs, then don't vote for that option.  It is a definite occurance.  If it hasn't bothered you, then fine.  But I miss the days when I could walk into a non-high end pro shop and still have a staff member who was competent enough to regrip a club, or take my money when I check in (not right before I tee off), or allow me to demo a club that I was interested in purchasing.

The pro shops need more golf nerds.  That is a complaint I have with today's courses.

LOL my wife and I are in Target almost every weekend. target is the only place we buy our 1 years old's PJ's because the prices are so good we dont really care that he grows out of them so fast. Shoot for that matter we try to buy alot of stuff there because of the prices. (We dont buy food there though) I didnt know that made us low class just because we like saving a buck here and there. This thread is awesome by the way LOL

I would say inattentive rangers / marshals. If they did a better job, all of the other problems would go away.

You get a thumbs up for this one and a pass on being a Cardinals fan. I've thought this ever since I first set foot on a golf course and outdrove the Mercedes driving, $1500 club toting dick with a WALMART driver

I think the biggest problem is the high cost of golf. I believe that we should be giving young aspiring golfers the same opportunities to play college and professional golf. The dividing line is affordability. There are too many young talented kids who have dreams but cannot realize them through golf because there continues to be people who are brainwashed into believing that Walmart and Target are “low-class.” Wake up and see that there is too much hate and pain in this world, and we are just adding to the indifference. Are hands are too soft and scar free.

What do Walmart and Target being low class have to do with the high price of golf?

Golf is expensive because course maintenance is expensive.  Property for the course land for the investors is expensive.  Course operations are expensive.  Nothing to do with elitists looking down on discount shoppers.

Municipal courses do a pretty good job of keeping the costs down.  I do wish more offered yearly dues fees ($500-1,000 for an adult resident) and a junior rate (-$250), which would allow more frequent access to players.

Good point.

You seem very judgmental for some reason. Target is our go to store for many items including baby clothes, diapers, staple items, pet food, etc. It's far from "low class". Wal Mart has great prices on many items and the one near our house it a nice store that is convenient and affordable. I guess I should limit my shopping to Nordstrom, Whole Foods and the like.

Regarding your other point on Pro Shops, many golf courses have been severely hurt by the economy and the proliferation of discount golf shops. They now specialize in the golf course, not the pro shop. By the way it's been a very long time since the muni's I play have offered these services.

Where in the world do you play golf that "They" won't take your money until right at your tee time? I'm from NY and have 2 brothers that still live & play golf there and I've never heard of this. My guess is that the staff sees you coming and scatters, leaving you standing alone in the pro shop.

my get up and go musta got up and went..

You are correct about this.  Not saying that the change is not justified or there is no reason for it, but it has occured and it has had a negative effect.

And feel free to shop wherever you like.  Just don't expect to see me at the mega discount chains.  I demand a higher quality of service than can be found there.  Nothing against those who do. (however, don't go around and tell people who expect quality that we are wrong either)

Where does anyone play that the tee time can't be paid for on-line hours before you get there? The only time I have to get my wallet out in the pro shop is if I've booked something via Golf Now and I'm there early to hit a warm up bag.
