My grandfather just called and told me a huge yacht just docked at the marina where he keeps his boat near Kiawah Island. He told me the name of the 150+ foot yacht was "privacy" and that rumor around the marina was that it belongs to Tiger. I looked it up on google and the rumors are true, but most of the things I read were about Tiger wanting to sell it for 20 million. Does anybody know if he ended up selling it, or losing it in the divorce? Also, I will be staying on my grandfathers boat at the same marina and was wondering if y'all thought I could/should try to meet Tiger and maybe ask for a picture with him or something.

Yeah, that's Tigers yacht.   It's a Christensen 155 and he listed it last year for $25M but according to a yacht broker friend of mine it is still for sale.     He offered it to Elin as part of the settlement but she turned it down as the upkeep costs are too much.

Here's a cool link showing where the yacht is at this moment: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shipdetails.aspx?mmsi=319164000 Commercial vessels and larger yachts carry AIS tracking, and the marinetraffic.com website shows real time position for AIS-equipped boats around the world.   On the page at the link above, if you click on "Current Vessel Track"  or the Lat/Long link it will take you to a map showing where the boat is right now; the vessel track link also shows it's track over the last 24 hours (pretty cool if the boat is moving).

Sure, snorkel over sometime next week and 'pass howdy'. Maybe he'll invite you in for a burger and beer. Wish him the best for me.

The walkways bewteen tees during the tournament is the best place.

Just position yourself, say, between the 14th and 15th on Sunday and he, along with the other players will willingly and cheerfully oblige.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Normally I'd advise against it, but he seems to be in a really good mood this week, so why not?

Just how close do you think Woods' security people would let strangers get?  Doubt they would be giving free tours.

Upkeep on that large of a yacht has to be ridic.  My wife works for an exec here in Newport and his upkeep on a 45ft 'yacht' is insanely high (according to my W2)... Low end figures, the exec she works for, has $50K in just fuel budgeted per year - and another $100K for maintenance and staff.  And the staff isn't full time.  I'd imagine a yacht that size - would need a full-time staff?

According to prior listings Privacy carries a crew of 12 and it was reported the annual operating costs about $2M.     A typical rule of thumb is about 10% of the purchase price for the annual operating cost; I've found that pretty spot on with every boat I've owned too (although mine are waaaay smaller than Tiger's!)

Given the lifestyle that led Tiger to having to sell his yacht, perhaps the yacht previously owned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei would be appropriate - he had a 180 foot Feadship named "Tits", and the yacht's two tenders were named "Nipple 1" and "Nipple 2".     Fortunately, she was sold and renamed "Samax" so the megayacht harbors are no longer graced with her tacky presence.

We all know why he named it privacy but really.....that's a lame name, I bet we could come up with something better.

He has purchased another smaller boat that he named "Solitude".      Seems to be a trend - first "Privacy", then "Solitude".     I can picture his next ones as "Secluded", "Hiding Out", and eventually "Reclusive Hermit Who Yells at Kids to Get off His Lawn".

So did you and Tiger pop bottles together, last night?

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
