That is a bummer.  I planned my day around the tournament.  Got a lot of work and chores done before the tournament and decided against golfing.

Anyway, is there a ranking system for Best Golfer in the World Every Other Day but the Saturday of a Major?

resume 7:45am then round 4 is going to make for a long day, if it's windy it'll be even a longer day

will fatigue factor in ?

that may favor the younger players

So if they don't finish the final round tomorrow, would they cut the major short to 54 holes or continue play on Monday?

not sure, I assume they would finish it Monday, doubt it would be cut short

not calling for heavy wind but it still might be gusty along the beach

and a 30% chance of storms again

Details for Sunday, August 12
A mix of clouds and sun with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon. High 87F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Evening: A few clouds. Low 73F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

So is Vijay at a disadvantage with the super-long day tomorrow?

I still think Tiger is in it, mostly because I'm operating under the assumption that -6 (or better) will NOT be the winning score.

They'll play 72 holes if they have to play the last of them on Wednesday.

That's my point.

But I'm so used to people saying they swear they saw a player grounding a club in a bunker or marking a ball on the fringe that I had a bet with myself that someone would ask an equally ridiculous question. I should have waited a few minutes longer.

After all, we've had some observations such as the wind being a factor and  the early start tomorrow making it a longer day.

I'm starting to wonder if it's possible that three putts make your score higher than it would otherwise be. :-)

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

haha, yes, Vijay is at a disadvantage, he is about 80 isn't he, he'll need a nap inbetween rounds

I was thinking more of Tiger, he's aged into an old man the past two years

washed up, a has been, needs to move on to the senior tour........along with Vijay

my prediction is neither will be the winner or even close come the 72nd hole.....whenever that may be

how about the guy who started a thread saying caddies on tour keep two balls in the towel so when the pro throws them their ball they secretly switch it out to a new clean ball for putting.

although to be fair, there have been tournaments where a guy half a country away has phoned in because he saw something and a player is assessed a penalty.

The weather could really play into it but unfortunately for Bo VanPelt it's supposed to start clearing up by 7:00am. The weather guy's are never dead on but if the field has to finish round 3 in tough conditions, VanPelt has a great chance to be in the last group sitting in the clubhouse at -3.

If it plays out as relatively calm as predicted, Tiger better make that 8 footer for par or it's a long hike coming from 6 back and the course for the taking with Rory and Scott playing well! Either way Tiger got a huge break with the storm the way he was hacking at that ball.

I've never been a big VJ fan but at age 49 it would be pretty cool for him to win. I have no idea who's going to win but I do think tomorrow is going to be a wild ride!

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
