Ha ha ha. That's so awesome. Im leaning towards the i25's I love the way they look and I feel like the S55's are a little above my ability level. What was it about the G25's that hated so much.

Just how big the heads are and all the offset.  I feel like they would be hard to get through the rough.  Especially with the dew on the ground in the mornings when I play the most.  I will probably keep my i20 4 and maybe 5 iron in the bag if I get more of the s55 irons.

That's what I don't like about my G15's. I think I close the club face at address because of all that offset.

I know what you are saying. I struggle with that at times with my G15 hybrid. I imagine you would like the progressive design of the i25s.

It's not a "common" issue with the irons so the guy probably didn't even know about it. How are your irons doing? Are they peeling?

They've been great so far, no peeling.

FWIW, I have had my i20's since last February and have not had any peeling despite spending way too much time in in manly east coast rough.

Yeah I think mine have done it because I "compress" the ball so severely with them. ;-)

I knew this was going to come up. :-P

Maybe the early models had a plating issue and the newer ones had that issue resolved. We (engineers) often get kinks in the first run of any product. They get worked out by operations folks who think we're puerile cretins for not looking into the future well enough. :-X

Yeah the plating is an interesting concept as it is what gives the irons their nice look.  Maybe a bit of a softer feel???  For whatever reason I am just "that guy" that has had issues with them twice, the second time after the kinks were supposedly worked out.  Also nice use of the language by our friend. ;-)

Has anyone actually contacted PING about the laminate in the i20's? I just wrote them. I want to send them back for repairs after the summer season in Oregon if finished. After reading some comments, I took a look at my short irons and they are starting to peel. I know the seven iron was getting a bit peeled, but thought that may have been from use. But under further inspection, it's definitely the manufacturers defect. No interest in getting rid of the irons, just curious if anyone's contacted PING. Thanks.

Great feed! I've had an issue with my i20. Mine have started bubbling/swelling at the bottom of the face on my 8+9 iron. I've only had them 10months. Cipher, is this what happened to yours? I sent the whole set away last Monday through a Ping dealer. I've not heard back yet. I'll keep you guys posted when i hear back from them

Yeah that is exactly what happened to mine. I am starting to think this problem is more common than I have imagined or ping is letting on. It is a failure in the way the laminate is adhered to the Iron. For the record I tried to contact both reps via email that I dealt with the first time without any luck. I really hope this does not happen with my new s55. I will be pretty ticked at that point.

Did you find out if the i25's and/or s55's have the same laminating process as the i20's?

S55 and i25 irons are the same "foggy chrome" finish as the i20 irons.

These are probably plated, not laminated.

If there are any materials incompatibilities or any impurities on the surfaces the plating could easily come off. It's a potential process contamination issue. I vote for process issue rather than potential design issues, but that might just be a bit biased coming from a design engineer. B-)

    • Day 364: About an hour and a half practice session. Spent most of it at the range. Did a solid 30 minutes of work on my priority piece, with filming. I think it's improving, but will probably check in on Evolvr to make sure. Then spent the last ~20 minutes putting, working mostly on short putts.

    • Day 79 (19 July 25) - Band rehearsal this morning - got home midafternoon, opted to work more with the magnetic alignment tool with the wedges.  Used it to work on face position at the bottom of the swing arc - followed up with easy pitches up to 50yds.  Seeing better face control and over improved accuracy toward target…session was cut short with pop up rain showers.
    • This is a great discussion. Other parts of the course where there are houses have white stakes and signs. This keeps people from trespassing and hitting shots on their property. There is another county road on the east side of the course that does not have white stakes like the hole I described. I checked the score card and there is nothing to indicate these roadways are OB. I think a county drainage ditch would be considered government right-of-way so it is the peoples land 🤣. But you are in the power industry and know more about those sorts of things than me.
