Is the golf season almost over for you?

Probably a couple months left. The daylight issue isn't bad since the morons who run this state decided to put it on Eastern time despite the entire state geographically belonging to the Central time zone. The only real issue is when it gets to be too cold and snowy, and that's something of a crap shoot. Last year, you probably could have gone out at least once every few weeks all winter long. (Sadly, that's all I've managed all summer.)

Will play till the holidays here in PA unless it we get early cold snap, that has only happened once in the last few years, will get out all winter long if weather allows within reason. Trips to Dominican and FL in January and Feb will help....March is officially get back out there time of year.

Isn't that kinda good? Don't you have more daylight after 5 pm than a true eastern time zone? I can not get 18 in but twice a week now if I fanaggle it just right. I hate playing leaf rules.

It's soon to be Fall in beautiful East Tennessee. The leaves in the Smokey Mountains will turn that brilliant oarnge color, and golf is at it's best. Usually can play into November and start back end of February or March. After this long hot Summer, I'm looking forward to Fall this year. Go Vols....

If it doesn't snow (like last winter) we'll play all winter long. But I will be playing for sure through Thanksgiving (Philly area). We stop posting scores November 1 and play paradise golf (move it everywhere) all winter.

It has some benefits, but overall it'd be better if daytime hours coincided more closely with daylight. It's really hard to put the kids to sleep in the summer when sunset isn't until 9:30pm or later, or in the winter to wake up at 7am, two hours before sunrise.

It is now just starting to cool down for me. I have no interes in playing in 100 degree weather. So for me, golf season is about to start.

I'm still good for 6-8 weeks but the weather can be touch and go.  Last weekend I played, it was sunny and 80, yesterday it was 53 and raining, but I played anyway.  After Halloween it's get pretty dicey with the weather, plus the grass will go dormate after a couple of nights below freezing temps so it's better to hold off until April.

I actually like to play when the course is frozen hard and it's about 15°F. It suits my low shot shape and I get tremendous roll-outs, often increasing my distance by 30-40% more than on a soft fairway. Now, I don't care for a wind in association with this cold, as the air density can kill any shots you let get up into it. If it's still one can use the dense air to parachute balls onto the green. This makes putting an adventure, but it makes things nice and fast! I wear several thin layers and a coat when I'm not swinging, and carry a thermos of something hot. Usually the course will be all yours. I honestly like it cold. It's a lot more fun than the 110° days we endure through our Arkansas summers. Funny, but I play both. R

If this winter will be anything like last winter, I still have a lot of golf left. Last year I was lucky enough to play nearly year round. We got very little snow, and overall it wasn't TOO cold. As long as the ground is clear (no snow) and its 40* or warmer, I'll be playing. Usually I'm good to play up until first week or two of December.

last year it didn't snow in PA, NJ ... so played ALL winter - was great.     Don't mind cold golf ... hope the snow holds off again

It's usually 12 months a year in the Houston area.  We get occasional snow and cold (by occasional snow I mean every few years we may get a day or two) but lows are usually in the 40s in January so if I dress for the weather there are a lot of courses available.

Tell me about it I live in Winamac, Indiana (eastern time) and every town around me is basically central time lol.  It sucks but Ill be out golfing in the cold weather regardless.

Showed up at 5:45 last night and the kid in the pro shop didn't want to let me out. Crazy considering I play there all the time. I assured him I could get in 9 before sunset. Played so fast I caught the last two groups on 17 and 18. Had I not been delayed by them I would have finished in 30 minutes. Total speed golf. No practice swings, no lining up putts.

I live on Long Island, NY and there are a few courses that stay open year round (as long as there is no snow). I've played when you needed a hammer to get the tee in the ground it was so frozen. But, a warm day in January or February, no one on the course except us die hards, and it is really nice. Plus a little scotch to keep you warm.. what else could you ask for?
