Standard version

Nike has designed the 430-cc VR_S Covert Tour driver.  Like the Covert Performance driver, the Tour version has a large open area in the center-back portion of the sole. The VR_S Covert Tour has the same adjustable hosel and NexCor face as the larger VR_S Covert Performance driver, but its face has been finished in black instead of chrome.

Yuck on the cosmetics. Putting the swoosh on top as well as on the sole is major overkill.

But interested to see how they implement the "uni-loft" concept. Range of 8.5 to 12.5 degrees is a lot of adjustability -- plus they're claiming loft adjustment is completely decoupled from face angle. Which is impressive if true.

I like the black anodized face with the red paint on the crown.  But adding the swoosh and 'COVERT' on top of the club is too much for my liking.  I'd rather see a clean pear shaped head, limiting the distraction(s) at address.

I like the looks and the cosmetics don't bother me.

Lots of adjustment features in this thing - lots of movable parts - There is a LOT going on here and, even if this is a great club, that maybe it'll take a couple generations to mature.  (Mainly I'm referencing the broken shaft issue on the STR8 Fit, lots of changes carries design margin risk)

The "Covert" on the crown is fine. Alignment aid. The swoosh is a tad much.

I think if they colored the swoosh maybe black or maybe a darker shade of red on the crown, it might not be so distracting to me. But overall, I think they could have gone without it. The location of it seems very arbitrary

Yea, i would have liked no Swoosh on the top. Though i do like the red, i probably rank it right be hind the mat-black finish on the Ping i20. Its still 100x better than that white crap monstrosity that TM puts out.

I like the idea of the cavity back, very interesting, i wonder how much it will effect MOI and workibility.  The amount of loft they let you adjust is just absurd. Though i hope they have one that ranges lower than 8.5. Depending on price and shaft options, i will try it out next year.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.

    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
