I'm not "hating" on the Ravens.   They are a good team.   But that defense IS getting old (by NFL standards) and they did just play a 5+ quarter game in high altitude.    The extra time on the field and the change in altitude are very likely to have adverse affects on them.  Now they have to go into New England and face a team that averages almost 35 points and over 400 yds a game and rarely loses at home.  Can they win?  Sure.   As the only saying goes, "On any given Sunday......"   But the deck seems to be stacked against them just a bit..

I dont have a dog in this fight being a Niner fan, but do not discount the Ray Lewis emotion factor. If the Pats and Ravens played a 7 game series, I'd say Pats everytime. But one game , possibly Ray Ray's last???? I think this game is gonna be alot closer than people think, maybe even a Ravens win.

Agreed.  I think it will be close.  Just like I thought the Raven's had a good chance against Denver because it was going to be very cold.  Manning is 0 for 4 now in cold weather games.  But I do think the Pats are better now than they were in Sept when they played the Ravens before and the Ravens are more beat up now.  The Ravens were playing outstanding football in the first four or five games.  Any given Sunday.

I hope the Pats win, I really can't stand Ray Lewis or the Ravens. As everyone stated, Pats at home, great offence and the Ravens may be tired leads one to believe they should win but I am worried about the karma factor for the close loss last year to New England and that missed FG.

If karma is real, the pats will either lose this week or in the bowl, all of their super bowls have asterisks next to them due to belicheat and spygate - they have won nothing since being caught.

Ray Lewis is one of the best linebackers to play football imo.  He's a student of the game, a leader on the Ravens and made everyone around him a better player.

None of us know for certain what happened the day of the shooting but the guy was at a crossroads and he turned his life around so I'm rooting for the Raven to win the Super Bowl this year for him.

It was a double homicide, not a DUI and of course none of us have any idea what happened but there are a lot of unanswered questions and two dead people as a result. Good for Ray Lewis that he turned his life around but how does that help the two dead people?

I was not commenting on his football skills, he is a great player but if he was involved at all that night then he should be in prison and not celebrated on national television, only he knows for sure which it is.

They have gone to two superbowls since and would have won one of them if it wasn't for a miracle catch by a guy who does not even play in the league anymore. Hardly qualifies as not winning anything.

The pats have played 5 superbowls under brady.  Except for the eagles game (and even that one is close), they were all coin flips.  The fact that the won the first two and lost the last 2 doesn't mean much.

I expect a good game. That probably means a blowout.

Don't mind him. He's still mad that the Giants missed the playoffs. ;-)

Winning three of 5 means everything, just ask Jim Kelly 0-4 but I get what you are saying. I hope for a good game, I am a lions fan so I really do not have strong feelings for any of the teams in the conference finals but I like watching good games, no matter what the sport.

I don't mean to be a hate peddler but I too can not stand Ray Lewis or Belicheck and the Pats smugness, so c'mon 9ers! Kaepernick was beast against the Pack.

That sounds like a typical chowd response. I could also make an equally ridiculous statement saying that the patsies didnt belong in last years bowl because they only won on a missed field goal.

Fact is fact - since belicheat was caught cheating, the pats have won ZERO super bowls - which means the ones before that are about as legit as Sammy Sosa's 70 homers.

NFL Network is replaying last year's AFC Championship. Can't believe I forgot Julian Edelman was playing DB in nickel formations.

I have no idea what "chowd response" means.

Your original post said "they hadn't won anything", when in fact they have won a lot of football games including getting back to the superbowl twice. Now that you have changed the parameters of your original comment, of course you are correct they have not won any superbowls.

Btw does the asteriks go next to Brady's name as well? Between baseball and football over the past decade or so there are going to be a lot of asterisk in professional sports. Kind of makes you wonder when the asterisk ceases to mean anything and becomes the norm.

If you think that other teams do not take any advantage they can get and bend the rules to win (Saints) then you have more faith than I ever will. Professional sports are a business first, no different than wall street.

Of course brady gets the asterisks too (he has not won a bowl without his team cheating) - it's guilt by association. I wouldnt exactly say the saints cheated - they just did something that was *morally* wrong at the wrong time - if the NFL didnt have it's concussion issue, they probably would have only had their hands slapped.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
