Well it looked like a pretty good day out there, nice to Stricker chip in for eagle on 18 today.  He played good considering the problems with his leg.  Dissapointed to Simpson not at the top as he is one of my favourites but good day all around.

I'm a CCU alum, and Myrtle Beach resident, so I'm always pulling for DJ. He has a way of winning these 54 hole (shortened) events.

The only problem is now it seems DJ has a new, "distraction": Paulina Gretzky (daughter of the hockey great).

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

The only context in which I've seen her name has been in the party/half-nude/booze/drugs/rebel/wild girl genre (on some hockey sites).

Just saying it isn't exactly the typical PGA Tour wife... or maybe Dustin's still in college mode? Oh well. Looks like he'll be the first winner of 2013, so maybe it's good for him? Who knows...

Speaking of college ... I just read that this marks the sixth straight season that he's won a tournament, which is impressive.  I didn't realize he had won that much.  They also said that the only other player to win in his first six seasons after college is Tiger Woods.

P.S.  (Mainly for Mike) I ban myself from starting any tourney discussion threads from here on out ... don't want to jinx them.

DJ absolutely put on a ball striking clinic.  Congrats to him on his win.  I look forward to him competing against all the young guns & Tiger this year.

As long as you ignore those two drives.

Otherwise, yeah, he was impressive.  And didn't fold after things got shaky.  Oh, and how about the drive on the 430 par 4 that stopped about 10 yards short of the green?  Wow!

Yes, he absolutely did. Gretzky's daughter must not have been too much of a 'distraction'. He hit 33 of 36 greens on Monday in 25+ mph winds, and made the win look easy against some of the best in the world. Having Gretzky's daughter in Hawaii along with him seems like a win-win to me.

I believe he is the only player under 30 to have at least 6 PGA tour wins.

If DJ doesn't win the Masters, it won't happen until 2014. Merion, Murifield, and Oak Hill are three courses that don't favor long hitters.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
