I was approaching a tee box today, and noticed a young guy nearby. His ball was sitting in the rough next to a water hazard which had knee-high weeds surrounding it. I noticed he was carrying an empty beer can. As he set his bag down, he casually tossed his beer can into the weeds. I was livid. He hit his shot and walked up to the green. I went over to where he hit from and fished the can out with my wedge. I then walked over to the green where he and his buddies were preparing to putt. I walked up, handed him the can and said, "Hey bro, there's a trash can on the next tee box." He turned bright red and muttered, "Thanks." I walked away shaking my head. The utter disregard for the property and the game just baffled me.

Very classy way of pointing out his error. Some people would have cussed, been very aggressive, and maybe gotten physical. That doesn't fix anything.

I hope this guy learned something and respects the course the next time.

I have to agree completely.
There is a person that plays at my home course who eats sunflower seeds while playing and spits the hulls on the greens.
If you are behind him, you have to clear them away before putting.
I don't know who he is, but if I ever see him do it, you can bet I'll let him know what an a** he is( in a polite way of course).

I can't stand this either. Same goes to the people who just plain spit on the greens.

I've narrowed the seed spitter at my course to one of two guys. They are both marshalls and should know better. I'll figure out which one it is this week and ask him to stop. Actually, it could be one other guy, the guy that sets the pins. If it's him, I'll spend the next 3 months learning enough Spanish to cuss him out properly.

i've never understood why people get worked up over stuff like this. someone left a can of some energy drink in the rough last week. i just picked it up and threw it away myself. it would have required more energy to run to the guy ahead of me and tell him where the next garbage can is.

Still, I have to give you props for not being a jerk about it.

The point of confronting the guy is to hopefully prevent future occurances of littering while he is on the golf course.

You don't understand why people get worked up when they see someone litter? Wow.

Some people feel they own the world. You think if they truly loved the game of golf, they wouldnt be polluting it.

i never said that I think littering is okay or that it is right. i've just never understood what is so hard about picking it up for the other person. if it pisses you off, then go tell the person to pick it up. but, for me, it is much easier just to take care of it myself.

people do things that are wrong all the time that have an affect on us. i've decided that I'll try to improve things when i can (like picking up other people's trash) and doing my best to not make the problem worse. if you want to run around and be the trash police, by all means, don't stop.

    • Day 24 9-7 Worked on lower body movement with full swing. Focused on hips. Need to work on setup a bit. Was hoping to get to the short game area today, stayed home and recorded some swings instead. I've come to the conclusion I learn the most with my practice setup at home, just a net and a hitting strip. Overall happy with the progress this week.
    • Day 2 (September 7), still with the grip and the medicine ball (using weights).   Still on vacation and really aching to be able to do a full practice the way I'd be able to at home.  Also bought a 1/2" section of pipe today at the hardware store and have been regularly practicing the grip with that too while watching Sunday football with the family.
    • Day 1: Worked on feels for wedge swings. Primarily getting everything to move from the top of the backswing in the correct sequence.
    • Day 6 (7 Sep 25) - Afternoon pitch session with the 54 and 58 in the backyard. Keys: Alignment - Setup - Smooth swing thru - working on each to be as “automatic” as possible - not mindless, but deliberately repeatable. I have found the precision required to properly execute carries well into the full swings.
    • 180% is the threshold. But yeah, many of them are close to 200%. Not 120 and 123%. People generate speed differently. I think your speed will come more easily when this stuff gets sorted out. Stay disciplined. Stay on the road. You can't get off exit 74 before you hit exit 32.
