I had one made for shits and giggles. When I hit it I feel like the ball is going to come straight up and hit me in the face! Ball comes straight down. If you played wet greens you would have to dig out your ball. I have never used it it any serious situation. Mine is sitting in a bag in the garage with countless other unused clubs.

what is the loft on an 11w?  How would it be different than these new utility clubs that are more FW than hybrid?

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

no way that goes in my bag. I'm a to big fan of iron play for that.

i can't seem to find the reason to play a 11 wood. can you tell me what is in your bag?

maybe it makes sense than!?

I think those kind off clubs are kinda replaced by hybrids. i think those are more easy to hit.

The loft on an 11 wood is about 25 deg. The advantage of a fairway over a hybrid would be higher ball flight and more distance. The disadvantage of a fairway may be less consistency.

Are you sure?  That's like a 4 iron loft.

Yes - straight from Callaway.

Makes sense since a 7 wd is 21, 9 wd is 23, 11 wd is  ..... 25.

My fairway woods are all the original Adams Tight Lies, Air Assault clubs. I do use an 11 wood, and the loft is 32 degrees. At least that is what is engraved on the sole plate: T 32* S. My 9 wood is 28*, the 7 wood is 24*, the 5 wood is 19*, and the 3wood is 13*. My longest iron is my 6I.

I carry driver, 3w, 5w, 7w, and 9w. 6i-gw, 54* and 58*. I used to carry 3-5h, but replaced them one at a time with the woods when I figured out I was much more consistent with them. Not really looking to replace anything with an 11w, just kind of curious about it.

Why not just use a hybrid?

Newer Hybrids look like fairway woods - try an RBZ

I hit the one I have about 165 yards. There is no hybrid on Earth that can fly as high as this thing! Mine is a Bang Cobalt or something. It is a beautiful blue head with an orange Matrix MFS 75 or 85 shaft. Just a funky club. I would hate to hit it in windy conditions!

*update* I bought a used one, 27* Calloway for cheap off eBay. I hit a pretty consistent 165 yard shot with it. Haven't tried it on the course yet though. I think I'm going to like it.

I use a callaway 11 and love it. Still carry long irons anyway. The 11 isn't, for me, much different than a 7 wood, just higher launch and softer landing. I can vary the carry anywhere from 140 to 170. So easy to hit, especially in the winter cold and wet. I would be skeptical of anyone berating the high lofted woods. I understand tradition and play with blades, but nothing beats these high numbered woods. Someday pros will carry them. Think how long it took them to finally admit to perimeter weighting.. Go for it. I would even go higher, in fact looking for something now.

I have a 7-wood ish thing in my bag, toying with going to 9-wood, 11-wood instead of   4 and 5 iron. Or something to that effect. I just don’t hit my long irons as well as I’d like to.

I’d do like a 25° hybrid if I could find a 26° adjustable that I could set at 25°.
