What do you think of Mark Crossfield?

I've watched most of his his vids from this and last year. He is funny, knows his stuff and can hold his own on the course. I would rather less talk when he adresses the ball...hit then review.

Just watched it. Thought it was good, in that Mark had to acknowledge the numbers were better than his driver, and that he was pretty honest imho about it. Wonder if they fitted him with the proper shaft..? and if they didn't, I wonder how the numbers would change, if at all..?

I still wouldn't pay 4 to 500.00 for a club no matter how good it was.  Cuz...I'm just cheap like that..lol

SLDR seems to be getting pretty good coverage from Mark.

The only real negative is that the "slider looks cheap".

Looks like Taylormade got the last laugh! Even though I believe that there are a lot of companies that could give him optimal numbers but to me it really shows the value of being fit for your clubs.

I wonder how much farther I can hit the SLDR than with my Ping G15 10.5 with the steel DG X100 shaft?

what is your club head speed? generally speaking?.

If you are 105-110, use a stiff shaft, maybe in the 65-72 gram weight. If you are hitting the 10.5 ping and pleased with the ball flight, set the SDLR at 12 degrees and swing away, you will get between 8-15 yards difference. The SDLR will knock about 500-750 rpms off your present drivers numbers, allowing you to take a much higher loft with no increase in spin. I have seen and demonstrated 100s of times. Most say "Oh no I don't want hit the ball too high with a 12 degree" don't worry you won't except with brands and models that put weights to rear and low portion of the driver something that the SLDR does not. Its the most unique driver that I have ever fitted. If you have a preconceived notion of what loft or flex you should have you won't like the SLDR. By myself switching from a 9-9.5 stiff TM tp R1, I gained yards, almost a clubs worth. rather than hitting a 7iron into a green, I in some instances can hit 8 iron. I now use an SLDR set at 11.5, ball flight is just little higher.

Depends on the shaft of the driver and the loft. Go get FITTED !!!

Really what the SLDR has done is broadened the loft range for more people. Basically it does benefit golfers with higher swing speeds more, because they had their hands tied with using very low lofted drivers. The problem also with the SLDR is, if you have a very slow swing speed, you will not get enough carry because you have TOO little spin. So that is they they are getting out a 14 degree driver, to help crank up that launch and spin more.

So basically it is a driver that can fit  ALOT of people, just go get fitted.

Thanks for the link, I did not realize it was an on line script.

As for the steel, obviously there is some psychological effect. I do plan to switch back to graphite when my swing is better and more mature.

Only thing I don't like is that his reviews are very generic - never yet heard him say ... blimey, this club isn't worth a crap - run away until ______ manufacturer fixes it !!!!!

Big-name companies don't put out crap.

So, virtually every review of something you'll ever read is going to say "this is a solid product, just make sure it's right for you."

There, I just summarized his last 50 and his next 100 reviews.

Not just his, but any club review from anyone reputable. Hell, that's the infamous line from anyone after a 10,000 character spiel.. "Go through a fitting to make sure it's the right club for you!". He does at least include data in reviews now and usually upon request, as well as Club vs Club Trackman comparisons which is more than what 99.9% of other reviewers do, so I have to commend that effort as well.

The guy is just entertaining for some damn reason and I can't put my finger on it. Usually I'd find someone like him quirky and annoying...
