That place is fun I think you would enjoy it. It's a very well maintained public course.

Played a great round today. I shot an 89 at a 72.6/134 in a pretty strong wind.  The only reason I even am posting this is to thank Mike for his help with my setup with my driver.  I went to the range last night and messed around setting up with my hip more forward. Well after I kinda got the feel for it I was hitting the ball very solid with my driver.  Today I had probably the best driving day of my life setting up in this position.  I played a course Ive only played once and I hit 9/12 fairways with my driver.  I was hitting the driver better than Ive probably ever hit it considering the wind and unfamiliarity with course. I even had a legit gps and range finder measured 315 yard drive(wind at my back and down hill. :-$ )  Thank you for taking the time to give me some very helpful advice.  I really appreciate what all of the 5sk guys do and I can't thank you enough.

I can honestly say the bombtech is a beast. I think I only hit it on the screws twice and was still getting amazing results. If anyone is looking for a new driver give it serious consideration.

Went to the range today and wanted to take a few down the line videos.  I wish I had the camera a little further away but they aren't to bad.  I like how much better my Key 1 is compared to my video from last fall. Thanks for all the help.

Played 9 after work today Im very happy with Mikes suggestion about setting my hips forward at address with my driver.  I hit driver on 6 holes. I only hit 3 fairways but all 6 were hit very well I missed 2 fairways by a little but the drivers were in good spots.  The only bad one was the 1st hole I just pushed it to much.  I was able to hit both a draw and a fade and had very good trajectory.  I ended up shooting a 42 with a triple, 4 pars, and 3 bogeys. This was probably my best ball striking day of the year.  I had 2 three putts and one bad pitch that I wasn't committed to.  Thanks you all for you help with Key #1 & #2 they have helped me tremendously.

I was playing around with analyzr and I noticed this. I don't like that Im not staying on plane.  Any ideas on a feel to stay on plane? Also would this be why my miss is a pull?  What made me investigate this was watching Saevel25's swing.

Grip looks a little palmy, I'd check that first. More on that here, check out the first video posted.

  • 1 month later...

Ive been working on Key # 1 & 2 and I keep hitting pulls I took these videos tonight and I don't like my downswing at all. I think everything look ok until I get to the top of my backswing then  Im going over the top and getting way off plane. I don't really know what I should do to fix this so I can stay more on plane. Any help would be great. The 2nd video was a nice straight ball but Im still off plane.

Yellow lines are address and right before transition into down swing green is shit.

So… I'd spend more time on Key #1 and your backswing.

Thanks I will. Do you think It would help if I had the club coming up at a steeper angle? I know the camera angle can change this but I was looking at a bunch of good golfers swings and their angles were more like 45* instead of 38-39?

I would say if your torso turn was "steeper" that would change the alignment of the shaft. If the body turns shallow, the shaft tends to respond to that and also loads too shallow.

Is that something I would change with my setup or just have to feel in my back swing?

Your set up seems pretty good, it is something you have to change in your backswing, which is what Erik was showing in the photos.  I am not sure exactly of the best way to fix this.  Maybe make some swings without a club and your head touching a wall.  Maybe a benderstick could help you.  When we get to a range, I can help you work on this.

Also this one,

See at the top of the backswing, in this drill, Mike's shoulders and hips are on a steeper angle. You need to get turn more with out raising your spin angle. I think part of it has to do with your shallow shoulder turn. I would work on getting that shoulder to turn on a steeper angle, see how that works. That drill Mike is showing, is a great drill for a center pivot, shoulder angle, and feeling where the club should be at the top of the backswing. 3 for 1 deal on that one!!!
