He goes into it on a high note with a win, instead of just thinking about how he blew the US open. Definitely helps him...also proves that he can play the kind of golf that will be needed next weekend.

Ding ding ding!!!! :-P

Who thinks the Scottish Open win didn't help him much now eh? Great back-to-back victories and that 66 today was astonishingly good.

My DVR failed me... Great win by lefty. No question the Scottish Open prepared him for Muirfield. Great finish.

Silliest sentence in the history of TheSandtrap.com, and not because Phil won.

It's an insult to:

Phil.

Grace.

I missed this until just now, but IIRC, Phil won at Houston once the week before winning Augusta.  For many players, any win is a big deal to them and may mean an emotional let down the next week, but Phil likes to play the week before a major as prep for the major, so, based on what happened today, it is clear that it was a lead up for him, not a mental peak.

Other than maybe Tiger and Phil, I can't think of too many guys who have won consecutive weeks on the PGA Tour.  (Villegas won the BMW and Tour Champ consecutively in 2008, but had a week off in between).  I think being in contention take as mental toll for most and there is a natural let down after winning.

How can I give myself a reputation point? Lol, he tore the back nine up!

    • Day 135 (27 Apr 24) - played Bradford Creek today while waiting for the missus fly in from her extended visit with the grands.  Good day to stay focused as it was a hurry up (groups pressing from behind) and wait (groups taking their time ahead)…a good day to stay mentally in the game - play the shot and not get frustrated in the waiting…
    • Day 122: 4/27/24 Supposed to be a Stack training day but I was beat after yard work today. Practiced chipping and putting at The Creek. The practice green is pretty slow but the session went well.
    • Went to the range today and was cursing myself when I got there as I realized I forgot my phone. I added an earlier wrist hinge to the short backswing I was using last time practicing and ball strikes were really good for the most part. I'm heading back to Boston Thursday to see friends and family and have a couple of rounds planned so I'm hoping to keep this feeling.  Yesterday morning I weighed in at 232. My goal had been 230 but maybe now it's 220. I'll have to think about that. I feel so much better without the extra 90 lbs. from 2 years ago. Still a softl slightly less protruding belly so it might be time to go hard on eating better. Work in progress.
    • Day 7- Went to the range and hit a bucket. Also did some chipping and putting.
    • Day 543, April 27, 2024 Practiced for about an hour today. Almost all slow, with plenty of rehearsals.
